Two office-industrial rezonings and traffic control on Ashland Trail top the agenda for the Thursday night Tyrone Town Council meeting.

One item concerns cut-through traffic and speeding on Ashland Trail. At the last meeting of the council, four alternatives were presented to representatives from Ashland Trail. They were asked to review the alternatives and come back to the next meeting with a decision that they liked best.

The alternatives were: a cul-de-sac at McDade, a cul-de-sac at McDade at Magnolia, declaring an ordinance to prohibit cut-through traffic or installing a center line stripe on the road, which would require that traffic maintain their lane on the road and may cut down on speeding.

Ashland Trail is off of Castlewood Road, near the Coweta County line.

The other two items on the agenda are public hearings for rezoning requests. Both are for tracts of property zoned agricultural residential: one that is one acre, located at 561 Dogwood Trail, and one that is eight acres, located on Jenkins Road. The requests for both tracts is that they be rezoned as Office/Industrial. Town manager Barry Amos had no further details on what types of things may go into those locations.

The Tyrone Town Council will meet on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
