Southbound traffic on Ga. Highway 85 approaching the Fayetteville square was redirected Friday afternoon due to a water main break.

That caused southbound traffic on Hwy. 85 to back up nearly to Ga. Highway 314 as cars crept along so they could merge into one lane to turn onto Ga. Highway 54.

The break, which occurred in an older six-inch water line, required ripping out pavement in the southbound lanes of Ga. Highway 85 in front of the Ballard Law Office. Although it caused traffic problems for many motorists, there was no inconvenience to water customers, as no one lost water service.
