Wildfire smoke reaches Atlanta metro areaATLANTA (GA) – Metro Atlanta residents woke up this morning to hazy skies and the smell of smoke as remnants from the South Georgia wildfires reached the city. Fulton County Registration Chief John Sullivan said Wednesday the June 19 vote will likely be delayed in the absence of a signature by Gov. Fayetteville police probe Weatherly Walk gunfireNo victims found, but shell casings recovered Fayetteville Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at Weatherly Walk Apartments early Tuesday night. No one was apparently injured, but when police arrived on the scene they could not find any of the reported four young black males who took part in the incident, police said. The incident occurred near the 1600 and 1700 buildings at the apartment complex, police said. April Dawn Ulrich, 46, was initially scheduled to be on trial today, but the matter has been continued by an order of Fayette Superior Court Judge Christopher C. Edwards. Ulrich's defense attorney sought the continuance so Ulrich could undergo further mental evaluations. Golf cart crash injures woman, 2 kidsA Peachtree City woman and two children were seriously injured when their golf cart crashed on St. Albans Way near MacDuff Parkway Friday night, police said. The wreck trapped Odette Torres-Figueroa, 35, under the golf cart, police said. She and the two children suffered serious head and leg injuries as all three were ejected from the cart, police said. |
