PTC police make Internet porn arrest

By: John Munford

A McDonough man was arrested yesterday for trying to arrange a sexual act with an undercover Peachtree City police officer who he thought was a 14-year-old.

Christopher Todd Walker, 33, of McDonough was charged with one count of violating the computer pornography and child exploitation act. Police said Walker engaged in "conversations of an extremely illicit sexual nature" during the investigation.

Walker is currently employed as a general manager at an Atlanta area Chick-fil-A restaurant, police said.

This is the 20th person arrested in the police department's ongoing undercover Internet sting, aimed at outing online predators who try to take advantage of children. On this case, the department was aided by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the Henry County Police Department.

Police urge parents to keep a close eye on their children's Internet activity. Suggestions include keeping the computer in a common area of the home instead of a bedroom. Some parents have installed special software to track their kids activity online.

Why is the headline called "Internet porn" arrest?
No one got arrested for having or using internet porn.
Maybe the headline was derived from the name of the Act this fool
violated? They caught an online sexual predator. So I think a better headline would have been "Police catch yet another local sexual predator" I think the real headline was just for shock value and to shame some people that may have legal "IP" on their computers. I humbly exclude myself from that list of course.

Was he "local"? OR were we paying for our poor short handed PTCPD to lure yet another predator to our fine crime free community to make a high profile bust?
Why don't we just leave this all to NBC and that outfit they work with.
I pity any poor on-line role player fool out there.

Even the well publicized Miss America case was, her pic when she was 13 and her talkin' "dirty" as an adult.

Not to say there aren't bad people out there but I have to ask, "Who really put these kids at risk?"

I can also tell you that even 30 years ago, there were some pretty sophisticated teenage kids out there....besides Tracy Lords.

how can you defend these pervs? thats not role playing, it's preying on little kids and if you weren't such a perv yourself you could see that.

You ever seen a Tracy Lords video? If not, you won't since they are now all labeled kiddie porn.

A pony-tailed lawyer will come up with a defense.

I just don't see it as a good "bang for the buck" local issue. Our kids in PTC aren't any safer because they do this anymore than stopping everyone on 54 in pick-up w/out a red flag on a ladder makes you any safer.

Why does it matter where he worked? It doesn't. It's just a point to add a little zing to the story. Chick Fil-A and the Cathy family do such wonderful things for our community, it just adds a little shock to the story knowing that some PERV worked there. The statement could have simply been Walker is currently employed as a general manager at an Atlanta area restaurant, police said.

I don't think the family or the organization need you defending them. I think it is legit reporting. The church the minister was at was ID'd, as was the school system for the supt., the college for the grad student, the dry cleaner, et al.
I am surprised, I thought their screening process was you had to know someone who worked there and attend Bible study with them. That's not a criticism of the business...they have a tasty san'wich.

Now, you see bladder, if you like Bush (a Republican of some kind) you also must like everyone in his bunch: Wolfowitz, Gonzalez, Rumsfeld, Walter Reed Management, Pentagon failed generals, Saudi Arabia and Prince Bandar, and all the rest of the crooks, caught and uncaught.
Same with Truetts.

You never get the meaning of a post due to your blinding polarized attitude that automatically covers up ANYTHING said about anybody that you don't agree with immediately.
There are things the Cathys' do that some don't like. That doesn't mean that everything they do is wrong, it isn't.
I have no idea what percentage of their income the Cathys' spend on charity, etc., it may be above average, I don't know. It seems to pay off though since many eat there due to their their public exclamations of religion. Good advertising, I suppose makes for a good investment.
However, they do not pay well. Kids must work a long time to get any scholarship money and then it is small. They could do better in that area. In my opinion they hire and keep only those who ascribe to their way of business---not how hard they work.
There now, I've said they make their prescence known in the community by donations, and I have also said they do not pay well.

They pay what every other fast-food place pays. These kids are just that, kids with no work experience. The fact that they give them ANY scholarship money at all, should be applauded.

The kids and you $ might want to wise up. Unless they go to college fast-food restaurants are the only ones who will hire them. Then they can look forward to low pay for the rest of their lives.

Those "kids" as you call them are men and women for the most part. Just young.
They are not too young, for the most part however, to join the military and get killed or severely and permanently wounded!
This is demeaning and useless work for little pay. They learn nothing except to stay away from demagogues and hustlers in the future.
The restaurants are run by hustlers and pushers. I'm talking
mostly at the people in the tower in Atlanta. The family tries to stay away from that part of the business (conning vendors, scheming land acquisitions, cheating on taxes, canning managers and district managers who don't do everything they can to make money---mostly through peons.
Any chain restaurant, fast or otherwise, is run that way. That does not mean it is an ok way to run a business. They must go through a million kids a year.
Now, to take some of that money and call the TV cameras and give it away, at the same time praying, and thanking the Lord for the success, in public, doesn't fool anyone except those who want on that bandwagon.
I suggest that these youth if they don't want to join the army, go to work with a carpenter or a trim man or a bricklayer, and learn a trade and make 50% more money with 50% less conning.

Are you really that big of an IDIOT? Who cares if they pay well? Would paying a teenager $15.00 an hour to cook chicken make Mr. Cathy that much better of a man? Truett Cathy built his business on faith, honesty, and generosity and has never waivered from that. If a kid didn't like the pay he/she was receiving, he or she should quit. Problem solved!

As far as the scholarship money being small, what business is that of ours? The fact that he offers ANYTHING makes him an outstanding person.

You are the epitome of a panty-waisted, bed-wetting liberal - nothing is ever enough.

It saddens me to go into a Chick-Fil-A and see all the long faces on those poor students who are working for fast food wages in an attempt to get a scholarship. The tradgey is that this is the only place they can earn these scholarships which means these poor chilrens lack choice. There is no other option for them to choose and because this is the only option they have this makes the Cathey's really, really bad people because in essence they are enslaving these poor disadvantaged children. How's that for a little Dollar Speak old buddy?

$... you've got to enlighten me about:

There are things the Cathys' do that some don't like.

Just what are those things? That they are people of strong faith? That they provide lucrative jobs and opportunities for people who hold the same values as they do? What's wrong with that? Heck even Starbucks hires Christian haters and Lefties. Is anyone complaining about that?

A MODERATE? You have seriously dissed me Mixer! I've been sharpening my pencil but y'all have been arguing about PTA moms, local food places and saying the most unkind things about people no longer with us. I'm trying to decide whether or not to respond to Paul's letter about what a great job Bush has been doing with the war and how we should all support him even though he has no strategy beyond waiting until the next administration comes in so he can hire sycophants to claim that President H. Clinton lost the war.

I like Truitt Cathy; a little right-wing for my political taste but then again, who isn’t? I like Chick-Fil-A, ate there yesterday in fact. I like the fact that they are closed on Sunday because of his Christian beliefs. I think it represents a principled stance. I like the fact that Truitt has been a Sunday school teacher for something like 47 years. I think they are a fine family and a remarkable success story.

I particularly like that skinless grilled sandwich they make!

And Mixer… Ben and Jerry are moderates and there is no bias in the media reporting of the war unless you watch FOX.

... to the Ben and Jerry's. I bet your dad knew ole Jerry Falwell and I am sure he has met Truitt who he said was "... one of the most remarkable success stories of our time." I am having lunch with Truitt (et al.) in June. I always look forward to a meeting where free food is in the center of the discussion and you get to pick the brain of an older and more successful person.

Ben and Jerry are nearly in the kook category - you are much more moderate than they are - you don't fool me Jeffery.

Good to 'see' you again by the way!

That leg of yours I pulled has got to be a few inches longer now.

Yes, we all knew Jerry Falwell. He disliked us very much and organized against us at every turn politically. So what? You win some and you lose some, right? If I had been hungry, he would have fed me. If I had been cold, he would have given me a coat. I would have done the same for him. Then we would have argued politics or religion viciously. May he rest in peace.

I think it is important to remember that politics is really a way to achieve what we think is best for us and others. While it is as entertaining as major sports (with much more relative consequences) it is certainly not the bread of life nor is it a route to salvation.

Heck, I have some very good friends who are as politically opposite of me as Mother Teresa was of Attila the Hun. We want the same things, we just don't agree on how to get them.

Bless you and yours.

I actually respect that they are true to their belief. I do not believe that every retail est. needs to be open 366 x 24/7. I could adjust when Publix closed on various days. How much convenience do we need. I have even adjusted to having to make the Sat run to the beer store but I do think the owner should make the decision and not the neither "moral" nor the "majority."
Back to point...this decision has cost them plenty of revenue.
