The Fayette County Democratic Committee will gather for a brunch meeting May 19. The meeting is at Onyxx restaurant in Fayetteville. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. and brunch is for $7/person.

Bobbie Paul, Executive Director of Atlanta chapter of Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND), will address the group on the dangers of relying on nuclear energy to solve the energy crisis. Atlanta WAND is a local affiliate of Women's Action for New Directions, a national organization of more than 10,000 people who receive educational information, take part in actions, and support WAND's work both financially and philosophically. WAND empowers women to act politically to reduce violence and militarism, and to redirect excessive military resources toward unmet human and environmental needs.

WAND was founded in 1982 as Women's Action for Nuclear Disarmament. With the end of the cold war, they became Women's Action for New Directions, and have been dedicating their energies toward educating the public about federal budget priorities and the threat of nuclear proliferation and waste.

The Fayette County Democrats meet on the third Saturday of each month.

Onyxx restaurant is located at 750 North Glenn Street (Georgia Highway 85) in Fayetteville. For directions or for more information, call Judith Moore, Chair, at 770-969-5237 or via e-mail at judith44@bellsouth.net.
