Fayetteville City Council on May 17 will hear the first reading of an ordinance aimed at penalizing those leaving minors under age 6 unattended in vehicles and public places unless the child is in plain view.

The municipal court judge would determine the fine to be levied.”

The second reading of the proposed ordinance will be June 7.

The council will also consider a $146,526 low bid by Shockley Plumbing, Inc., for the Knight’s Court Collection System project. the project will replace eight manholes and will abandon another. Other bids ranged as high as $189,366.
