Wisconsin Choir to perform at Faith Lutheran Church in SharpsburgThe Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and Chamber Choir, from Wisconsin Lutheran College and under the direction of Dr. James Nowack, will perform a concert on Sunday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg. The concert is part of the choirs’ 2010 Spring Concert Tour. On Jan. 10, the first Sunday after the Epiphany, also known at “The Baptism of Our Lord,” Lila Grace McGee (left photo), daughter of Seth and Joy Barnes McGee of Peachtree City, received Holy Baptism. The following Sunday, on the Feast Day of Our Lord the Giver of Life, Maddox Andrew Gardner (right photo), son of Andrew and Jennifer Huggins Gardner of Tyrone, was baptized. Both families had numerous family members and friends in attendance. FFUMC offers FPU classesFayetteville First United Methodist Church (FFUMC) will offer four courses in Financial Peace University (13 week course) in February and March. All will be held at the church. Woolsey Baptist Church is beginning a new schedule this Sunday morning, Feb. 7.The church will offer two worship opportunities — a traditional worship service featuring the choir and orchestra beginning at 9:30 a.m. and a contemporary worship service featuring the praise team beginning at 11 a.m. Recognized for serviceAll Saints Anglican Church of Peachtree City recognized Sarah (Cookie) McClure on Jan. 24 for her hard work and dedicated service as nursery supervisor. McClure, who is known as “Miss Cookie” to the church’s young people, has served All Saints since it was founded several years ago. The Rev. Michael Fry, rector, praised McClure for her loving approach to caring for the children of the church and presented her with a small token of appreciation. All Saints is at 225 South Peachtree Pkwy. LLM certificationSeveral men and women received training leading toward certification as Licensed Liturgical Ministers (LLM) in the Mid-South Diocese of the Charismatic Episcopal Church. Those who complete the process are licensed by the diocese to serve the chalice at services of Holy Communion and are authorized to take Holy Communion to the sick and shut-in of their parish. The classes were held at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg and were taught by Father Dan Hale, Canon Liturgist for the Mid-South Diocese, assisted by Deacon James Gardner.
