So, Rev. Jeremiah Wright is back in the news. That is not a surprise. What is surprising is that the controversy over Barack Obama's former pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago has missed an important issue. The focus has been primarily on Mr. Obama's relationship with his pastor and the pastor's inflammatory, divisive statements. The lens needs to be widened.

In the T-38 community, we have gone a long time without any news worthy incidents (over a year). It has been even longer since we have actually lost pilots from flight-related mishaps. Unfortunately last week and this week have shattered our sense of immunity from harm. On Wednesday 23 April, a T-38 crashed on takeoff. Neither the instructor nor the student pilot survived.

Driving through Tyrone on 74 this weekend it was apparent that the new council has repealed their sign ordinance (must have been at one of their secret meetings); it looked awful.
