Updated —The Citizen is moving next week . . . to our new website, and we want to invite you to take a pre-launch tour. Click here to go to the new site.

The new site is scheduled to go live this weekend and officially be open for business Monday, March 1.

It's not fully functional yet, and we still have to import our current registered users over to the new site to allow comments, blogs and forum postings.

So visitors won't be able to sign up or log in to post comments yet; that happens next week. If all goes well, current registered users on this site will be able to seamlessly log in on the new site with the same user names and passwords as now.

So, at this point, it's like a new house with some wet paint signs still up, unpacked boxes still on the floors and windows without drapes. But you can look all you like.

We know you likely will have some ideas and opinions about the new site (especially versus the "old" site), so use our commenting feature on this site to give us feedback, or send an email to editor@thecitizen.com.

Beginning next week, this "old" site -- with all the comments, blogs and forum posts and news -- will become the "archive," and can be accessed [Correction] from the new site and searched within the old site.

Thanks for your participation, and have fun on your tour.

is a nice addition.
Please tell me this doesn't mean the magazine is going to go away, though.
The new site is great.

Well nice to see an update. No offense, it kinda reminds me of AJC.com. But I visit the citizen more than that liberal paper, so good job Cal.

....Talk about efficient!! THIS IS DYNAMITE!!

Now, how long will it take the sites downtown to attempt to 'copy' what Cal has done??

This is super!

Cal, why not share the weekly visits of the new 'home' after about a month's worth of data? Bet you see an even greater increase from what you are currently enjoying! Also, greater service for advertisers!!

GOOD STUFF!!

I like the new site a lot. It is just what The Citizen needed! I remember a few years back when we used SmugMug for sports photos- you guys have come a long way!!

Do you think Cal will add a thumbs up/thumbs down button for the blogs? Shocked

Also, users will get to "'thumbs up" or "thumbs down" on all comments, and the comments with the most 'thumbs up' will be featured in the block at the top right titled "Your Say."

Also look for a ranking of top most "Rated" and "Hated."
