F’ville eliminates six job positions

It is a sign of the economic times. The Fayetteville City Council Oct. 1 took the advice of city staff and approved the removal of several unfilled job positions from the personnel roster.

Commissioner on plea calendar for marijuana, tag offense

Fayette County Commissioner Robert Horgan is expected to appear in state court Oct. 22 to enter a guilty plea on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving with an expired tag.

Chaplain training

James Taylor, a chaplain with the Peachtree City Police Department, recently completed 20 hours in specialized in-service training offered by the Georgia Association of Law Enforcement Chaplains. Taylor, who also serves as a chaplain for Piedmont Fayette Hospital is a member of The Cathedral of Christ the King, Sharpsburg, Ga. where he serves as a Licensed Liturgical Minister.  He and his wife, Karen Romano-Taylor, are both active in the leadership of Peachtree City's Community Emergency Response Team.

Town Hall meeting on Healthcare and Cap & Trade coming Oct. 15

The Southern Crescent Tea Party Patriots will hold a Healthcare and Cap & Trade Town Hall meeting on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at Christ Church at Whitewater. Organizers said the emphasis will be on healthcare.

This Tuesday night Peachtree City residents can do some one-stop shopping for City Council candidates as all are scheduled to appear at a question-and-answer forum at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center.

The event runs from 6:45 to 9:15 and is sponsored by the Peachtree City Rotary Club.

A Peachtree City firm last week officially opened its new research and development center for medical plastic systems.

Gerresheimer AG, headquartered in Germany, now has complete product and process development for its specialized business in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and medical technology. Previously such facilities were only available in Europe, company officials said.

Sitting at a table in the Redneck Gourmet in downtown Senoia, it was difficult for Scott Tigchelaar to contain his excitement. The animation in his voice and on his face was a dead give-away that something important was about to happen. And it did. Southern Living Magazine has named the 3.5-story brownstone to be built on the site of the Gin Property development as its Idea House for 2010.

Ground broken Tuesday for Chatt Bend State Park

Unemployment falls in Coweta

7 Fayette elementary schools to get FluMist

The FluMist seasonal flu vaccine is coming to seven Fayette County elementary schools Oct. 19-22. Parental consent forms are required to have the vaccine administered. The Flu-Free Schools vaccination program is a pilot program sponsored by the state District 4 Health Department.

County to warn 9,000 voters of precinct two-step for SPLOST

More than 9,000 Fayette voters will be forced to travel to two different voting precincts in November, at least if they want to vote in their municipal election and also on the countywide SPLOST referendum.
