Canongate, the company that now manages Peachtree City’s Tennis Center, has won city approval to proceed with $152,000 in renovations that will be funded by the company.

The project will focus on the restaurant and pro shop area and also the locker rooms. The company is also spending a small portion of the cost on new signs.

Canongate recently re-opened the restaurant facility at the tennis center, which has seen several tenants come and go over the years. The company is proposing to renovate the bar area and add pleasant touches from window treatments to artwork along with two televisions.

The project also includes new back patio furniture along with new tile flooring and carpet in the locker rooms. The locker rooms will also get new countertops, sinks, mirrors and faucets.

With Canongate on board managing the facility, the city is not experiencing any cost to run the tennis center. In the past the center has been operated by the Peachtree City Development Authority, the entity that built it, and later the Peachtree City Tourism Association.

Although Canongate owns a host of private golf clubs, the city’s tennis center remains open for the public’s use.
