A host of officers from nine law enforcement agencies converged on Senoia Sept. 24 to participate in a night time road safety check. The operation netted five arrests and 17 citations.

Senoia Police Chief Jason Edens said the roadcheck was a function of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety Western Region Traffic Enforcement Network. Senoia had hosted the monthly network meeting earlier in the day.

Checkpoints were located at Ga. Highway 16 and Howard Road and along Rockaway Road at Coweta Street. Officers ran the road safety checkpoints from 8:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Edens said that during the operation of the checkpoints there were three drug related arrests made as well as one for driving under the influence of alcohol and one for a minor in possession of alcohol.

Officers also also 17 citations issued for miscellaneous traffic related violations such as license violations, seatbelt violations and child safety seat violations. One driver was served with a license suspension, Edens said.

Edens thanked the departments that were represented at the meeting and roadcheck. Those included Senoia Police Department, Coweta County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Meriwether County Sheriff's Office, Paulding County Sheriff's Office, Villa Rica Police Department, LaGrange Police Department and the Tallapoosa Police Department.
