McIntosh tops Whitewater on diamond, 5-2

All region games are significant and when they come against local rivals the games tend to mean just a little more.

McIntosh picked up their first region win of the season with a 5-2 win over Whitewater on Monday evening. The Chiefs struck early with two runs off of four hits in the first inning. Jake Tanis and Ben Barter drove in the runs with singles.

PTC to consider fee hikes

Tyrone planning discusses J93.3

An attempt to re-locate J93.3 from Ga. Highway 54 just outside Peachtree City to Tyrone continued on that path with Tyrone Planning Commission stating support for the idea at its March 13 work session. Commissioners considered reviewing the current table of uses for the C-2 zoning district with the potential for having a “radio studio” included. The issue will be discussed at a March 27 public hearing.

Dick Shelley wants text amendment to C-2 zoning district

Dick Shelley is still looking for the reversal of an ordinance he claims has excluded nearly all the uses of his business rental property at 117-119 Tyrone Road. Shelley’s request was heard at Tyrone Planning Commission’s March 13 work session. The request asks for the re-instatement of 14 permitted uses in the C-2 zoning district that were excluded by the adoption of Ordinance 454 in 2004.

Tyrone police unveil community alert system

Tyrone Police Department has unveiled a new electronic community alert system, the Town Crier. Chief Brandon Perkins said the alert system is in an effort to provide timely information to its citizens. A recent announcement of the system has already resulted in 41 people signing up for the service.

Falcon Field closed for repaving

Falcon Field's runway closed Wednesday and will remain so through Tuesday, March 25 as the runway and other areas are repaved.

Tyrone egg hunt and festivities

There will be a bit of Easter and “A Taste of Tyrone” and a host of other activites all coinciding on St. Patrick’s Day that will all take place in Tyrone Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m.

Getting a first-hand look at government

Two 4-H members from Coweta County were among more than 350 4-H’ers that participated in 4-H Day at the Capitol on February 11. Ethan Robertson, a homeschool student, and Amber Willis, a student at Smokey Road Middle School, were both excited to assist as pages for the day. Ethan represented Senator Mitch Seabaugh and Amber supported Representative Billy Horne.

Coweta School Board member Brian Roy resigns

The Coweta County Board of Education is looking for a new member.

On Tuesday, board member Brian Roy announced his resignation from the board because he and his family were moving to a new home out-of-county.
