There will be a bit of Easter and “A Taste of Tyrone” and a host of other activites all coinciding on St. Patrick’s Day that will all take place in Tyrone Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m.

Running until 2:30 p.m., Saturday’s festivities will begin with the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Shamrock Park where five ages groups of kids will scour the grass for the delectible treats (and parents don’t forget to bring the Easter baskets). Organizers said the hunt will include a special prize egg for each age category. The hunt will be attended by Tyrone’s very own Easter Bunny, who will be available for photos with the youngsters after the hunt. Proceeds of the $2 cost of photos with the bunny and the sale of tee shirts and caps will be donated by Tyrone Police Department to Georgia Special Olmypics.

Another feature of the fun-filled day in Tyrone will be a culinary delight, “A Taste of Tyrone,” that will feature the cuisine from local restaurants. Prices are $1 per tasting or six tastings for $5.

But these are just two of the festivities planned for the celebration. The wildly celebrated Dog Contest will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a bicycle and golf cart parade around the park at noon. Expect entries to be decked out in a manner fitting the occasion.

A host of different demonstrations will be available to entertain and amaze. Tyrone’s Taylor Made Tumbling and Cheer will be featured at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Tai Chi demonstration by Julie Woodbridge at 1 p.m. The festivities will continue with a keyboard demonstration at 1:30 p.m., a Kuk Sool Korean martial arts demonstration at 2 p.m. and winding up the day’s events, a country line dancing demonstration with Cynthia Brown at 2:30 p.m.
