Students advance to state science fairYoung scientific minds put on a show for judges at the regional competition of the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair in Griffin. Starr's Mill soccer teams sweep McIntoshWhenever these two teams meet, fans can always expect an exciting game and tonight's matches were no exception. The girls played first and were deadlocked at 0-0 at the half. With just under 20 minutes to go, Starr's Mill's Katrina Frost scored off of a direct kick. Some damage done during Tyrone petty cash burglariesTwo recent break-ins in Tyrone resulted in the theft of petty cash and some property damage. County commissioners on Tuesday approved a 90-day moratorium on issuing permits and established an $8,500 application fee. After an executive session Monday night, the City Council announced plans to purchase a one-acre tract next to the park for $55,000. Public hearing set for April 10 for new development near SharpsburgThe Coweta County Commission will hold a public hearing April 10 on a rezoning request to establish a 694 single-family home development east of Sharpsburg. County’s revenues show an increaseIt was a quick, painless fix to the 2007 Coweta County budget approved by commissioners March 4. Addressing the call for a budget amendment, Assistant Finance Director Kelly Mickle in a Feb. 28 memo said actual revenues in the $52.22 million budget were approximately $5 million greater than the original budget and $3 million greater than the amended budget. Actual expenditures, she said, were approximately $900,000 less than the original budget and $3 million less than the amended budget. |
