Some damage done during Tyrone petty cash burglariesFri, 03/07/2008 - 3:42pm

Two recent break-ins in Tyrone resulted in the theft of petty cash and some property damage. The first burglary, at AAA Machinery Moving on Peachtree Court, occurred between late night hours Feb. 26 and early morning hours the following day, according to Tyrone Police spokesperson Alicia Batts. Batts said an employee called police after arriving at work at 8:30 a.m., finding a front warehouse door open and a computer thrown onto a nearby desk. The office manager arrived and checked the bank bags, only to find some of the petty cash missing, Batts said. The second burglary occurred March 3 at 3:54 a.m. at Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association on Greencastle Road, Batts said. Officers responded to an alarm call, finding that a side window to the front door had been broken and the building entered. Officers secured the building, noting that the drawers of a file cabinet and desk were open. After the owner’s arrival it was discovered that the room where the petty cash was stored had been broken in and the cash was missing, said Batts. Anyone with information relating to these cases is asked to contact Lt. Steve Lafferty at (770) 487-4732. login to post comments |
