It’s a crime that didn’t harm a person, but is sure to cause outrage in the community.

The Fayette County Animal Control staff is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a man who abandoned and ran over a litter of puppies near Ga. Highway 314.

Protester calls gangs ‘youth organizations,’ criticizes DA

Their numbers were small, but organizers of the “Free the Fayette Two” protest said their message was not. The protest rally held outside Fayette County Justice Center Feb. 22 targeted the recent incarceration of two Fayette County High School students, convicted recently in juvenile court for their role in a gang-related “beat-in” fight in a school restroom in December.

Fayette’s Drug Task Force makes multiple arrests in Feb.

The first two weeks of February have been busy for Fayette County Drug Task Force (DTF) agents in Fayetteville.

A series of arrests came Feb. 22 when three adults and two juveniles were taken into custody at a Butler Road residence in Fayetteville, according to DTF Lt. Jody Thomas.

Residents get an update on gangs situation

Nearly 50 parents and others came to Sams Auditorium Monday night for a community awareness seminar on gang awareness and Internet safety sponsored by the Fayette County Board of Education. Speakers included District Attorney Scott Ballard and representatives from local law enforcement and the school system.

Pye Lake dam bid awarded

The long awaited project that will make state-required improvements to Pye Lake Dam came Feb. 21 when Fayetteville City Council approved a $727,466 low bid by North Georgia Concrete. The work will be performed through a FEMA pre-disaster mitigation grant with the remaining 25 percent local match funded through stormwater fees.

Fayetteville City Council likes idea of upscale retail

Fayetteville City Council said the idea to bring upscale retail to The Villages on Ga. Highway 54 West was a good one. A bit of recommended tweaking to the proposed concept plan presented Feb. 21 by East Point-based Heritage Creek Development might result in live/work opportunities and more greenspace.

PTC restricts stores in industrial park

The Peachtree City Council voted Thursday night to table a decision on spending another $720,000 to fix the city's police headquarters.

Tyrone burglary suspect arrested

It took a little time but Tyrone Police got their man. Deshawn Davis, 20, of an unknown address, was charged Feb. 11 in the Sept. 16 burglary of the Shell convenience store on Senoia Road, according to Tyrone Police spokesperson Alicia Batts.
