The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is closing the books on its investigation into the deaths of former pro wrestler Chris Benoit and his family at their central Fayette home this summer.

Giving up roads would leave room for big box stores

Though no vote was taken either way, the Peachtree City Council appeared Thursday night to inch its way toward approving the abandonment of two city roads to make physical room for a big box store to be built at the southwest corner of Ga. Highway 54 West and Planterra Way.

Exterior walls to be demolished, replaced; mold found in insulation

Peachtree City officials are recommending that all of the exterior walls at the city’s police station be replaced instead of scrapping the building altogether.

Tyrone finally has a new Planning Commission.

After skipping January because it did not have enough members, the Tyrone Town Council Thursday night appointed a virtually new board.

For now, Peachtree City homeowners will not have to worry about adding a fire sprinkler system to their home as originally proposed by city staff.

The Peachtree City Council will soon be deciding whether to proceed with building a “gateway” cart path bridge that would span Ga. Highway 54 West near the city limits and Wynnmeade Parkway.

Homeowners from the Southampton Community gathered in the neighborhood clubhouse Jan. 31 to discuss crime in their area and to form a neighborhood watch program. The residents are taking a proactive approach to ensure that the neighborhood remains safe and that their property values remain high. Chief Brandon Perkins was on hand to explain how neighborhood watch works and to provide the residents with crime information from the neighborhood and the Town in general.

The following arrests were made by Tyrone Police between Jan. 31 and Feb. 6. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
