All region games are significant and when they come against local rivals the games tend to mean just a little more.

McIntosh picked up their first region win of the season with a 5-2 win over Whitewater on Monday evening. The Chiefs struck early with two runs off of four hits in the first inning. Jake Tanis and Ben Barter drove in the runs with singles.

"It was huge to strike early against Whitewater, because they always seem to get some runs back on you late," said McIntosh head coach Toby Black.

Black was right as the Wildcats got a run back in the bottom of the fourth inning off of a wild pitch and got another run back in the bottom of the sixth from an RBI single from Jake Fisher.

With the game tied 2-2, the Chiefs got their final three runs off of two walks and a wild pitch. In the bottom of the inning, McIntosh pitcher Cameron Rich got his fourth 1-2-3 inning of the night.

"That's the best game we've seen on the mound all season," said Black commenting on his team's pitching struggles so far this season. "Rich really took command tonight and pitched to his ability."
