Alcohol package sales currently not allowed

A new company is proposing to open a package liquor store in Senoia at the intersection of Ga. highways 16 and 85.

However, there’s one significant problem. Senoia’s ordinances do not allow package alcohol sales, as pointed out Monday by Mayor Robert Belisle.

Animal shelter discussed at commission meeting

Coweta County commissioners at the April 21 meeting heard from Sharpsburg resident Michelle Humphries on the subject of conditions at the shelter and the plight of some of the animals there. Commissioners also heard from animal shelter director, Warden Bill McKenzie on improvements made recently at the facility. Commissioners said they would continue to look at ways to improve conditions at the shelter.

Senoia encouraging more recycling

Senoia officials are hoping to convince more residents to recycle.

The city’s garbage company, Dependable Waste, offers recycling for free, City Manager Richard Ferry said at Monday’s City Council meeting.

Burglars hit a home in the Smokerise subdivision in Peachtree City Monday between 9 a.m. and noon, police said.
The suspects got away with watches, wedding rings and money, police said.

Neighbors reported seeing an older white pickup parked in front of the home at 204 Smokerise Trace at the time, police said. The truck had a drive-out tag on the back and police have issued the above photo which is thought to be the suspects’ truck.

Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the crime. The front-end loader was stolen from a construction site, and police believe it was driven north on Ga. Highway 74 to reach the bank. The front-end loader may have been followed or led by a second escort vehicle, police said.

Senoia Council to consider water rate hike
