Deputies investigating 2 similar incidents

A Fayette man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a prostitute early Monday morning, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Gerald Copeland, 48, a former 20-year veteran of the Fulton County Police Department is charged with aggravated sexual battery, battery and false imprisonment, sheriff’s officials said.

The investigation began when a motorist saw a partially clothed woman with no shoes walking in an undeveloped subdivision early Monday morning, officials said.

The victim was able to describe the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, and evidence left at the scene also led investigators to Copeland, officials said.

Sheriff’s detectives are also investigating two similar cases in which prostitutes were picked up in Atlanta, brought to Fayette County and sexually assaulted.

In all three cases the victims were beaten and then abandoned in north Fayette County, officials said.

He should have stayed in Atl with his homies. He would have probably never been caught.

Still more crime being heaped on our community by the very trash that supposedly came here to get away from it. This time a retired Cop is the perpetraitor. At his age there is NO WAY this is something new that he is doing. I bet if you look closely into his past, you will find more signs. People, do the citizens of this County a favor and keep your crime in Fulton, Clayton, Dekalb and any other County except here. We have worked hard to make and keep this a safe community with great schools, recreation and shopping; keep your criminal butts OUT. If you don't, you are gonna find out juries here deal harshly with your criminal BS!!!!!

Where is Charles Bronson when you need him..... The fact is that the "diverse" culture of the Atlanta Metro area is creeping into PTC. We need more local involvement and watches to report crimes and unusual activity. How about a toll road at 74 and 85 and other points of entry to our community? All kidding aside, it ain't going to change and you better get used to it and buy a security system. Can I help you with that? Just kidding...........

The guy on TV looked like a FulCo Lt. who was harrassing me so bad I had to go to the police chief. It took a second complaint before I got a "I'll take care of Copeland". Another FulCo cop jumped bail in Coweta for molesting a family member. A woman FulCo cop worked a off duty job at Club2Risque against dept permission ! Beware of FulCo cops!
