Large crowd has their say, and some tea, in Newnan

Smiles, signs and cheers took LaGrange Street in Newnan by storm Wednesday, as a throng of people, perhaps as many as 400, gathered at city hall to attend the Newnan Tea Party. Like countless other events occurring across American April 15, those in Newnan said the statement they were making was about principle not party, and about freedom, not oppression.

Chip Coursey is not a political pundit. He is not an event organizer. But Chip decided several weeks ago that he would go out on a limb and try to do something he had never done before. With no knowledge of what to do or how to do it, he began organizing the Newnan Tea Party. The result was approximately 400 people of all genders, ethnicities and ages coming together in a common cause.

“I’ve been asked why we’re here today and if doing this will make a difference. Yes,” Coursey said to a roar from the crowd. “Most importantly, we need to do this again. This can’t be the last time, no matter what it takes. We have to stand up and have our voices heard. It may take doing this several times to tell Congress, ‘You may not admit you’re wrong but we’re here to tell you you’re wrong.’”

The only state or federally elected official in attendance was state Sen. Mitch Seabaugh. In his brief remarks, Seabaugh acknowledged the efforts of Chip Coursey.

“If every one of us took his initiative we would take back our nation,” Seabaugh said. “We’ve forgotten what our founding fathers did to give us the opportunities we have now. We need not to forget that. They believed in a Supreme Being, God, and the right to govern ourselves. I don’t care who’s in the White House. Hold elected officials accountable, including me.”

Another to address the large crowd was “Ride the Bus Coweta” organizer Wendy Bloedt.  She and her mother, Judy Whitwood, have worked behind the scenes to assist Coursey with the tea party in Newnan and Cindy Fallon with the tea party held simultaneously in Peachtree City.

“I believe this fight is worth fighting and I won’t give up. And I don’t think you will after today,” Bloedt said to more cheers. “At the tea party in February it was a cold, wet day. But I came back so inspired. You are inspiring others today. I don’t like the change I’ve seen in this country and I’m not going to take it.”

Bloedt also read a letter from state Rep. Billy Horn, who said he was sponsoring House Resolution (HR) 821 urging Congress to adopt the Fair Tax and HR 492 claiming Georgia’s sovereignty from an over-reaching federal government.

Many others followed Bloedt at the microphone. They were citizens, average people, who came to participate and decided to take the microphone to state their beliefs. As each spoke, they were applauded and cheered.

And there were those that spoke standing on the sidewalk, sharing their thoughts at Newnan City Hall.

Newnan resident Chelsey Sherman said he could not agree with what was going on in Washington. He said the pork spending was ridiculous and had to stop.

Another at street side was Missy White, who brought her home-schooled children to the tea party as part of their instruction.

“We home school because of the Christian education,” White said smiling. “I teach about how the country was founded on Christian principles and how our country was set up. We’re here today to demonstrate against the bad decisions that are being made that are ruining our country economically and how our children’s future will be a lot different because of the decisions that are being made. We’re hoping to change that.”

Diana Fowler also had her say about the tea party and her reason for attending.

“We are here today because we are against all that the government is doing right now,” said the Senoia resident. “My children and grandchildren are going to have to pay for all of this. I’m worried about my kids and grandkids.”

Another of the many mothers with their children at the tea party was Kristin Keating. And like so many others, the Newnan resident and her children were carrying signs and enjoying the camaraderie with the hundreds that stood beside them.

“We’re here because we want the bail-outs by the government to stop. And we don’t want our kids to be plagued with debt when they grow up,” Keating said. “We’re tired of government control.”

Also on the sidewalk was an immigrant from years past. Her words and her message for the United States were striking, and ominous. Douglasville resident Niki Smith was born in Greece prior to World War II and moved to Yugoslavia. As a young girl, she was part of a singing and dancing troupe. Later she immigrated, with her brother, to America. Niki came with one suitcase. She went through the process to become an American citizen. Standing in front of city hall, Niki spoke of her life on both continents.

“I lived in all kinds of orphanages and I obviously survived. I saw a lot of death. I lived in a Communist country. And in Yugoslavia I danced for Mussolini when he came over. He promised us all kinds of wonderful things that would happen. We were going to have food, we were going to have freedom and expression. I was very little, one of the singers and dancers that presented him with flowers . Then within a month we were attacked,” Smith said. “I am here to represent my grandchildren. I want to tell the American people this is the greatest country in the world. If America is so bad why is everyone trying to get to the United States? I’m here today because I believe in the Constitution of the United States and I would fight for this country. I honestly feel that I am seeing Europe and I’m seeing the beginning of how our country deteriorated to the point where we became slaves to the government. The bigger government took over, then before you knew it we lost our freedom. People in this country don’t realize what they have. The freedom. You don’t know what you have until you’ve lost something.”

Before the rally began, groups in the crowd spontaneously began singing. First it was God Bless America followed by chants of “USA, USA, USA” and, minutes later, the singing of The Star Spangled Banner. All the while, many of the cars and trucks passing in front of city hall on LaGrange Street honked horns and waved in support of the mid-day effort.

The tea party began with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Throughout the rally, and aside from the obvious discontent with many aspects of what was verbalized as inappropriate federal intervention into their lives, the tea party was nonetheless peaceful from beginning to end. It was a time of controlled frustration that will not be diminished through coercion or control. Many in the crowd spoke personally about the shame that has come over this country due to the inaction of average citizens who, over the years, have refused to take a stand. For many, some said, their time has come.

And many in the crowd said they took little notice to those in their communities that spew hate-filled rhetoric in the attempt to mock and belittle their efforts for what they believe is their right to express their discontent. Some said it was a similar discontent, echoed across the centuries, by those who fought an American Revolution for a new freedom.

And referencing a report earlier this week issued by U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, it was not without note on LaGrange Street in Newnan on April 15 that some of the colonists who dared to hang together in the founding days of this nation would, because of their stand for Christianity and the Constitution, be called right-wing extremists and potential domestic terrorists today.

Just a few quick things:

  1. Getting news from sources OTHER than mainstream is a GOOD thing. Try it sometime!
  2. Missed the "Jews for Obama" sign but I appreciate the info.
  3. I have no "inner Hannity." In fact, I can't stand the sound of his voice, but you can't grasp the concept that people who disagree with you aren't all Fox zombies. You have to believe they are, otherwise your world makes no sense. Pity. Think BIGGER, Sniffles 5. You already mentioned your "intellectual superiority" so it should be easy for you.
  4. I don't care if you've been on these forums for YEARS. If you're making statements/judgements about a specific event that you have ZERO firsthand knowledge of, you have NO CREDIBILITY concerning that specific topic. Yours is an opinion based on a vacuum of knowledge... that means it's based on NOTHING! Oh wait, you're smart---you knew that!
  5. Thanks for not calling me a liar yet. So kind of you! No surprise there. When liberals lose arguments, the first thing they do is start name-calling.
  6. Last but not least, here is the LINK to the entire CNN clip. Yeah, they tried to yank it and hide it but lucky for you, it's still out there. Enjoy!

You actually followed through and delivered the link! I must say I'm impressed, your actions can serve as a role model for other conservatives around here!

To your points then!

  1. Here on the blogs, we are regularly bombarded (primarily by "Fred Garvin" and Darth Dubious) with links to non-mainstream media. I have to tell you I'm not impressed. I'll stick with mainstream publications for now.
  2. You're welcome. Glad to be of service. I've got about 10 other pictures of disreputable types at these rallies should you be interested.
  3. Not all of you are Fox zombies? I'm....shocked! Shocked, I tell you! Eye-wink
  4. Tsk, we were doing so well and you have to dredge up this "zero firsthand knowledge" business. That is such a specious argument, friend. After all, I've never personally been to the moon but I am sure Apollo 11 landed there. I've never been inside a concentration camp, but I am sure the Holocaust happened. Do you see where I am going with this?
  5. Ah, you caught my little dig. You'll have to forgive me, I'm a tad jaded by locking horns with the likes of "conservatives" such as "Fred Garvin" and SLindsey. These dastards set the standard for making claims not backed up by facts. After a while you get to the point where you expect them (and you, by extension) to lie. As long as you understand the difference between fact and opinion, we'll get along just fine. I think you'll find most of the "name calling" on this blog comes from slack-jawed, mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging sloped-forehead America-hatin' Negro-baitin' imbeciles on your side of the political fence. Ah'm just a simple man attempting to bring "balance to the Force", so to speak.
  6. Insofar as the link goes, I thought it made great viewing. The doofus carrying his two-year-old as a shield came up with a pithy retort a minute after the cameras were turned off...it reminds me of those drunk hecklers in comedy clubs who get demolished by the guy on stage, and once the moment is past do they come up with a stinging reply!

I suspect we'll have a Rashomon moment regarding that other lady. I'll tell you what I saw: I saw a very aggressive woman get right up in that reporter's face, waving her finger threateningly and regurgitating talking point after talking point. In other words, typical spittle-flecked oratory. The reporter neatly parried her screeching accusations, and asked the one question I have yet to hear teabaggers answer: specifically, what do you want that cannot be resolved at the ballot box?

You've mentioned that your merry band of anarchists will next attempt to co-opt Independence Day for your next protest. I think that's a wonderful idea. Since you folks seem to be big on symbolism, why not use the celebration of America's founding to begin your next revolution? Perhaps you folks should drop your collective trousers and symbolically wipe your collective butts with Old Glory to show how fed up you are with a country that tolerates your hatred for its government.

P.S. Do you watch Glenn Beck by chance?

So nice of you to welcome me to the "forum" like it's yours. You are a Dem, no doubt.

Anyway, yours is a typical knee-jerk liberal reaction. You get all your news from the Communist News Network, likely have never received news and information from any other source outside of the mainstream (liberal) media. Singling out one idiot you saw on CNN as a representative of ALL TEA Party attendees is like saying--oh, I don't know---that all Democratic presidents are adulterers because Clinton was. DUH!!!

If you didn't feel threatened by the TEA Party movement, you wouldn't be posting all over this forum. Yours is an uninformed opinion because you did NOT attend any TEA Parties, anywhere.

Mark your calendar and make plans to attend the next one on the 4th of July. Perhaps you can experience your own independence day and, meanwhile, gain some credibility in these forums.

P.S. That CNN clip you love to reference, did you happen to see the full version of it online? The one where one of the attendees took that sorry "reporter" to task regarding her blatant misrepresentation of the event? Now, THAT, was some great viewing! Good grief, Sniffles 5, even Jon Stewart made fun of CNN on his show---and he's on YOUR SIDE!

First of all, thanks for being upfront and admitting that your news sources come from outside the mainstream. Hopefully, dastards like SLindsey can learn from your example.

I'm also glad we can agree that Mr. Obama-is-a-fascist is an idiot...see? We're finding common ground here! Sadly, I think he makes up a rather sizeable minority of the sort of people that attended last weeks' Fox News Tax Day Tea Party rallies. Did you see the guy on the news with the sign that read "We Americans are all JEWS for OBAMA'S OVENS!". Reminded me a bit of our own Darth Dubious. But I digress.

Tsk...that's your Inner Hannity talking. My credibility in these forums is well-established, Mr. Been-registered-less-than-a-week. If you're just here to hump my virtual leg, the line forms to the right, behind MeanOldConservative, the dastard SLindsey, and AtHomeGym.

And yes, I did see the Jon Stewart clip where he chastises the CNN reporter for picking on the poor defenseless conservitard

Kudos to Ben Nelms for his outstanding story on the Newnan TEA party. His was the most accurate portrayal of Newnan's gathering and the overall spirit of the TEA Parties. He is the antithesis of the disgusting, unprofessional CNN reporter who argued and berated a man attending the Chicago TEA Party. Yeah, they actually had one in CHICAGO, too! While he's holding his 2-year old, she barks in his face, talking down to him like the elitist she is. Despicable!

The tepid piece the (Newnan) Times-Herald did underestimated the crowd which is typical of the coverage these events received. The best argument anti-TEA party types have is the tired use of the word "teabagging" in a juvenile (though admittedly funny) derogatory sense. Really, is that ALL you've got?

TO SNIFFLES 5: As someone who rode one of the TWO FULL-SIZE MOTORCOACH BUSSES from Coweta to the Atlanta TEA Party, I can tell you each bus was full plus a few walk-ups were there, looking for more seats. I think each bus held 60+ so that is at least 120 people. If you're referring to a different bus caravan, then that just means there were even MORE!
TO EVERYONE: Next time, see for yourself. GO! July 4th, 2009 is the next one.Smiling

Hello GotSomethin2Say, welcome to the Citizen blogs. It was very nice of you to give us a first hand account of yourself and your fellow bus riders, given Ben Nelms' lack of journalistic objectivity on this story, I feared that since he left out any mention of the bus caravan he'd been promoting for weeks that it somehow had fizzled out. In any event, I hope you had fun at your Fox News Tax Day Tea Party. Didja get Hannity's autograph?

We'll just have to disagree on whether Ben Nelms article was in fact "fair and balanced" (perhaps it was, in a Fox News sorta way).

I do agree with you that Mr. Nelms rather biased reporting stood in stark contrast to the real journalism on display by CNN. (LINK). I thought the CNN reporter did a marvelous job exposing the utter cluelessness of the typical Fox News Tax Day Tea Party attendee.

That attendee was trying to get his Obama-with-a-Hitler-moustache picture on national TV and the CNN reporter absolutely nailed his ignorant hide to the wall!

CNN: Why did you create this picture?
Doofus: Coz Obama is a fascist!
CNN: What in your opinion makes a fascist?
Doofus: Obama is one!
CNN: Why is he a fascist?
Doofus: Coz he just is!

etc etc etc..

That points out the great weakness of the Fox News Tax Day Tea Party crowd. Scratch beneath the surface, the cutesy signs and bumper sticker slogans, and you'll find precious little intelligent thought.

The great majority of the Fox News Tax Day Tea Party folks were simply unhappy that their guy didn't get elected last November.

That's why the overwhelming majority of Americans basically ignored you. You were a one-day story.

In all fairness, I do know some persons who are sincerely concerned about 'taxes', etc. Unfortunately, this poor man had limited ability to express himself - or answer the reporters’ question. I hope that there are many citizens who are going to monitor their elected officials regarding the spending of our money. It's interesting to note that very few reporters mention that some banks have repaid the money lent to them - with interest. Someone said that the government would not accept the payment. Do you know anything about this? I think you're right though - the majority of that crowd seemed more interested in 'dishing' Obama. Because of that - they lost a lot of credibility. No one ever answers what he or she would do differently - just that they would not do what is being done now. It's like banging your head against a wall.

It is not your job to suggest solutions to our economic problem. You vote for political leadership who then take up the job of running and/or righting the economy.

S.Lindsey, WE DID THAT. November of last year. That's our whole point here. Did you guys miss that somehow? The political side that lost is now offering no solutions as some TEA party protesters shout "Secede! Secede!" in Texas and national politicians refer to fellow politicians as socialists. It makes your party look as if they don't understand that elections have meaning. When the other side wins, they get the ball and they can begin to move their ideas. If criticism comes from the other side with no solution alternatives (like a budget with no numbers) chances of the minority party gaining traction are very slim to nada. I really don't know what conservatives offer at this point, other than criticism.

Americans didn't vote for out of control spending by rookie community organizer.

Obama budget could bring $9.3 trillion in deficits

That's 4 times the Bush deficit. Obama lied when he told the American people that he wouldn't allow pork earmarks. He lied when he said that he would give everyone 5 days to read it before signing it.

The idea behind the tea partys was that Americans are fed up with lying politicians spending our money, our children's money, and our grandchildren's money in a wreckless fashion.

We've had enough, and we don't owe you or any other pissant, bedwetting liberal an explanation or an excuse for our protests.

I'm glad you were screaming loudly at federal spending levels when Dubya was in office....I guess I just didn't hear you back then. Perhaps you were screaming quietly.

I find it nothing short of amazing how many newly constituted "fiscal conservatives" have crawled out of the woodwork. It's almost as if that, now that there isn't a Republican president any longer, they feel empowered to act like Americans again.

The timing of these rallies is incredibly suspect. We've had profligate spending for the past 8 years, but I recall little to no popular protest. Less than 100 days into a Democratic administration, though, we have Fox News agitating and essentially stage managing public protests. Fox News has issued the order to "jump", and ditto-nation responded with "how high, sir?"

I remain convinced that this was little more than a partisan episode designed and executed to inflict political damage on a popular president. I do not feel it succeeded to any great extent.

You are of the opinion that debt needs to be slowed down or reduced. In a perfect world, that's an ideal goal. Having said that, President Obama was elected with a clear mandate to implement costly initiatives such as universal access to health care. Big ticket items like this will not be inexpensive. Traditional routes of paying for these big ticket items have included growing the deficit or raising taxes. Obama has stated he will fund his initiatives via raising taxes on incomes over $250K. This was met by a howl of protest from the Fox News core demographic (the "low information voter") who have been conditioned to howl on command when they hear talk of raising taxes.

Basically, I think all this tea party nonsense is designed to place maximum fiscal roadblocks in the way of implementing our new president's agenda, an agenda I would remind you that was essentially approved by a majority of voters just last November. These tea parties positively reek of sour grapes.

One final note: I don't particularly like these big ticket bailouts either. But I trust a Democratic administration to "do the right thing".

Let's talk about Chip Coursey. If you read other newspapers, you will learn that Chip Coursey contacted Fox News and volunteered to lead a Tea Party in Newnan. Fox News put him in touch with professional organizers, coached him on what to say and what not to say, and how to talk to the press. When you hear that Coursey "...is not a political pundit. He is not an event organizer.", that is technically true, but that doesn't begin to cover the extensive assistance he received from right wing groups associated with Fox News. Other news organizations pointed this out. Reporter Ben Nelms did not.

The organizing experts suggested doubling the crowd size when discussing with the media. There's an embarassing clip on YouTube today of people caught on camera doing just that. Rather than use official estimates from reliable (e.g. police) sources, Nelms chose to print "perhaps as many as 400", failing to mention who supplied this guesstimate. Other news organizations estimated the crowd at 200.

Interestingly, despite front page stories advertising the bus caravan to see Sean Hannity in Atlanta, there was no followup as to how many people actually rode on those busses. I do know that as of April 14th, a paltry 9 people had signed up to ride those busses on the Facebook signup page, many of them family members of the organizers.

I am of the opinion that publisher Cal Beverly did the community a disservice when he assigned reporter Ben Nelms to cover this particular story. Mr. Nelms obviously (see his editorials) has a vested interest in promoting this "tea party" business, to the extent that he is willing to compromise any semblance of journalistic standards to spin the story to the extent that it is little more than propaganda.

Hey Sniffer, great job uncovering all this dirt on the Tea Party!! Those factoids are simply fascinating!!! Since you obviously have time on your hands (any loser looking on Facebook for the number of people on a bus qualifies) and a real talent for investigative journalism as well.....I have a few thoughts on future stories for you (you're welcome!):

1) when you order a double pepperoni pizza, do they really double the number of pieces of pepperoni??? I want specifics here.....

2) who really shot J.R.???

3) when dunkin donuts advertises a chocolate frosted doughnut, is that a chocolate doughnut with frosting OR is that a plain doughnut with chocolate frosting??? and what is the other one called???

4) is the Fayetteville Square really square?

5) why do you have to make an appointment with a psychic? shouldn't they know you are coming? do you have to tell them your name? if so, why? shouldn't they know it???

6) who mixed up the names for asteroids and hemorrhoids? shouldn't a hemorrhoid really be an asteroid? aren't asteroids out in the hemisphere and therefore shouldn't they be hemorrhoids?

7) why in the world do ben and jerry's retire flavors? and do they receive any benefits???

8) are there really peach trees in Peachtree City? If not, why not?

9) how much wood could a woodchuck chuck IF a woodchuck could chuck wood? again, I want specifics here starting with can a woodchuck even chuck wood? and what in the heck does it mean to "chuck" wood???

I've got to go relax in the mountains for the weekend, so take your time. Be sure to mention me when you get that Pulitzer.....

Geez moldconservative, give you a little quality time with your idol Sean Hannity the other night and you come out with both guns blazing! Shooting blanks as usual, but hey, we've come to expect this from you. (Did Herr Hannity allow you the privilege of licking his jackboots?) Sticking out tongue

To answer your questions:
1) when you order a double pepperoni pizza, do they really double the number of pieces of pepperoni??? I want specifics here.....
They really do double the pieces...unless SLindsey makes the pizza. If SLindsey makes your pizza, he'll take the regular number of pepperoni slices and will lie and claim they are twice as much as they are. He learned that trick counting people at Teabag Day

2) who really shot J.R.???
Your dad. Ask him why when your mother's not around....if your mother's still around

3) when dunkin donuts advertises a chocolate frosted doughnut, is that a chocolate doughnut with frosting OR is that a plain doughnut with chocolate frosting??? and what is the other one called???
We had this conversation the last time I went through the drive-through at Dunkin Donuts. You might want to ask your manager for additional training in doughnut identification and nomenclature

4) is the Fayetteville Square really square?
No man, it's totally groovy

5) why do you have to make an appointment with a psychic? shouldn't they know you are coming? do you have to tell them your name? if so, why? shouldn't they know it???
Only godless heathens who have forsaken Christ's teachings consult with psychics and embrace the occult. So go ask Ronald Reagan. Oops, he's dead....ask Nancy Reagan then..

6) who mixed up the names for asteroids and hemorrhoids? shouldn't a hemorrhoid really be an asteroid? aren't asteroids out in the hemisphere and therefore shouldn't they be hemorrhoids?
People confuse the two because of two "flying Johns": John Glenn and John McCain. Glenn was threatened by asteroids every time he flew. McCain was threatened by hemorrhoids every time he flew.

7) why in the world do ben and jerry's retire flavors? and do they receive any benefits???
The Fayette County Commission voted them full defined benefit pensions earlier this year.

8) are there really peach trees in Peachtree City? If not, why not?
There were once 325 peach trees in Peachtree City. Bob Lenox cut them all down, and subsuquently blamed Steve Brown.

9) how much wood could a woodchuck chuck IF a woodchuck could chuck wood? again, I want specifics here starting with can a woodchuck even chuck wood? and what in the heck does it mean to "chuck" wood???
You know how you throw up a little in your mouth when Janet Smola tells you how fiscally responsible she is on the school board? That's "chucking" (aka "FCBOE Flux"). The answer to your question then is...Level 42 (ask your teenager).

You love to invoke other people's family members don't you??? I've never gone there, but since you opened that door with me, I got one for you now douche-bag. Remember when you said..... "Shooting blanks as usual, but hey, we've come to expect this from you."???

Well, that sure ain't what your wife and mom told me.....

A bit thin-skinned today aren't we, Mr. Dish-it-out-but-can't-take-it?

Perhaps in the future you should avoid asking snarky questions if you don't want snarky answers.

It's up to you, big boy. Smiling

You ever seen me whine about snarky exchanges? Uhh, no. When you write something like I did to you, you expect similar retorts. Not that you could ever come up with anything as good, but possibly vaguely humorous.

What you don't get, you inferior troglodyte, is that family members are, and should be, off limits. If they want to blog on here, then they put themselves in play. When I write something lampooning your opinion, I have to expect return volleys. That gives you zero right to try to vilify family members. When your shtick is so flipping weak that even you know your feeble replies don't measure up, you're better off just licking your wounds and sticking to the blogger. Try to keep my family out of it.

Either way, it's really up to you big boy.....

Let's take a look at how this thread developed, MOC, m'kay?

  1. I write a post detailing why I believe Ben Nelms' reporting lacks objectivity
  2. You respond immediately, name calling out of the gate, calling me a "journalist wannabee" and "loser". You then attempt to derail the thread with inane questions not germane to the discussion
  3. I respond to your inane questions with sarcastic replies
  4. You attempt to redefine the rules of engagement after the fact, unilaterally declaring references to parents to be "off-limits"

MOC, you're still living in Bushworld, where you labor under the oudated assumption that your actions have no consequences. As I have told you before, the time where Liberals turned the other cheek while Conservatives heaped venom on them is long gone....you seem to have not gotten the message.

Again, it's very simple: don't dish it out if you can't take it.

meanoldconservatives's picture

You know, where you aren't supposed to derail threads with inane questions. And also, the rules of engagement for blogging. I'd like to see those.

The rules for engagement that most adhere to on this blog are governed by common sense and decency. You're the only one I remember ever stooping to reference family members. At least anyone that wasn't responding to you.

Name calling seems to be common. Lampooning each other seems to be common. Sarcasm seems to be common. All aimed at bloggers, not family members. That is simple respect. Obviously, you never learned those lessons.

Sniffer, I know my actions had consequences. I wanted to rile you up and it worked beautifully. Lots of us had a good laugh....at your expense. But, I always kept it to you and you alone. Your humor tank is running so empty that you just have to call on family members.

As I said, play it as you want with me. You've already seen I love to have exchanges with you. It's only slightly more invigorating than exchanges with Main. Making you guys look silly is the easiest thing I do during the day. I'd rather not bring your family in it though. But, I'm game either way.

Also, I'm glad you're feeling all liberated from Conservative venom. Go out and burn your bra and set those man boobs of yours free. You go girl!!!!

Hi deadeye! Now that the cameras are off, are you teabaggers gonna drop the pretense of "we're all in this together, black and white, democrats and republicans, liberals and conservatives, kumbahyada yada yada"? Those smiley faces must have been just awful for you guys to maintain.

It pains me greatly to say this, but for once in my life I find myself in agreement with Ann Coulter, who said on Fox News Sunday night that after all was said and done, these "tea parties" were little more than Anti-Obama rallies, with a few ideological kooks.

Sniffy that IS too painful. A. Coulter, ICK! She must have been sick that Sunday, that is the only explanation.

Teabagger gatherings here in Georgia just seemed to be a place to try to promote the Fairy Tale tax again from what I saw on the news. The authors of the Fairy Tale Tax book, cups, must runneth over by now.

Projections estimate that total Tea Party attendance nationwide was about 250,000 - 400,00 people, about the same amount that Obama would attract at a few of his election rallies. I thought Fox News and crybaby Glenn Beck were predicting MILLIONS of people? LOL

WSB TV - who claimed attendance of 10,000
The AJC - who claimed attendance "in the thousands"
Some obscure political website - who claimed 15,000 attendance
Noted Citizen blog fabricator SLindsey - who claimed 20,000 attendees.

Hmmmm...decisions, decisions...

Submitted by Dondol on Fri, 04/17/2009 - 1:14pm.

WSB and the AJC are both owned by the same company Cox broadcasting and Cox broadcasting has a long standing reputation of being a Liberal and Democratic leaning company. So much for the un-bias reporting. I have lived in this state for over 50 years and it has always been that way.
It is an old time (pre 1965) southern Democratic thinking company. Most of the Democrates that live in this state or the south for that matter are transplants from other states.

I think if Fox5 Atlanta is also claiming "in the thousands", it pretty much discounts any claim of bias on the part of the AJC....unless the Cox sisters own Fox5 as well?
