The Georgia Mathematics Council has awarded the Georgia Teacher of Promise Award in Mathematics to Heather Price, a third-grade teacher at Oak Grove Elementary.

Kedron Elementary School's Annual Fall Festival Oct. 14 was a delight for all ages. With awesome fall weather, families were able to enjoy typical festival treats like cotton candy, caramel apples, popcorn, drinks and pizza either inside the cafeteria or outside on hay bales. Along with hay bales, there were pumpkins, mums, scarecrows and smiling faces to welcome in the fall season. A Fayetteville man has pled guilty to one felony count of reckless conduct for having sex with another man without disclosing his HIV positive status.

A Fayetteville teen was killed Thursday night when the car he was riding in ran off the road and struck a utility pole, catching fire, police said.

It’s not a joke. A small part of the project will have two lanes in both directions completed before Thanksgiving, as long as its not thrown off schedule by weather or other problems, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

McIntosh High School has “adopted” Pascagoula High School in Mississippi to help students there, many of whom lost their homes and all their belongings when Hurricane Katrina struck.

Peachtree City is estimating its new stormwater program will cost more than $550,000 for the coming year.

To pay for that cost, the city is planning to implement a stormwater utility that will result in residents of single family detached homes paying a monthly fee of either $2.69, $3.95 or $6 depending on the amount of impervious surface on the site. The total impervious surface on a site includes any buildings, any paved parking lot or driveway, and other improvements on the site that don’t allow water to seep into the ground.
