The Georgia Mathematics Council has awarded the Georgia Teacher of Promise Award in Mathematics to Heather Price, a third-grade teacher at Oak Grove Elementary.

The award was presented to Price at a conference held at Rock Eagle in Eatonton. The award is given each year to a K-12 mathematics teacher in Georgia with 3 years or less teaching experience and who demonstrates qualities of excellence in the teaching of mathematics.

Price was awarded a plaque, $300 for classroom expenditures and a lifetime membership to the Georgia Mathematics Council. Fourteen of Prices’ family members as well as several Fayette County Board of Education administrators attended the ceremony.
