It has been open for a while but the official dedication of the new Tyrone Library is held April 20. A large crowd is on hand as Georgia Public Library Services Facilities Director Nathan Rall and Tyrone Library Supervisor Julie Digby cut the ribbon.

One year after it was originally supposed to be completed, progress on Peachtree City’s long-delayed golf cart bridge is gaining some steam, city officials reported last week.

Within a month city officials hope to be filling Huddleston Pond back up.

The pond’s level has been dramatically reduced while crews built a new dam and pipe for the emergency spillway. Significant problems with the dam were found in March 2006, and the lake was drained almost completely in September 2006 when more extensive problems were found.

A fix is in the works for the flooding that has occurred over the years at the Tinsley Mill Village condomimums just off Lake Peachtree.

Bridge will span creek between Picnic Park, Drake Field

A local triathlon group has offered to pay for and install a pedestrian bridge to be installed between Drake Field and Picnic Park.

Immediate Care Centers of Georgia, the first urgent care center of its kind in the area, will host its grand opening this weekend in the Market Hill Office Park in Tyrone.

Does Coweta County’s governmental structure need to undergo a change in the future? An attempt to begin to find an answer to that question came April 17 with the first meeting of a committee proposed in February by County Commission Chairman Tim Higgins to determine whether the county’s current governmental structure is sufficient to meet future needs. Much of the April 17 conversation included the idea of having a countywide commission chairman.
