A fix is in the works for the flooding that has occurred over the years at the Tinsley Mill Village condomimums just off Lake Peachtree.

Peachtree City officials will administer the $892,000 grant, with the 25 percent matching funds coming from the Tinsley Mill Homeowners Association. The grant money is coming from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

The city will pay all invoices and be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the homeowners association, officials said. The program does not require any city funds, said City Engineer David Borkowski.

The area has experienced recurring flooding problems since the early 1970s and in some cases the fire department has had to evacuate residents via boat to insure their safety.

Last week the City Council approved an agreement for the process with the homeowners association. The engineering work will be performed by Integrated Science and Engineering of Fayetteville.
