Proposed ordinance amendments will fill the agenda at the May 1 meeting of the Fayetteville City Council. Amendments to be considered include those relating to impact and sewer proportionate fees, an intergovernmental agreement on alcohol permits and a special exception for auto sales in the light manufacturing zoning district.

The council will hear a second reading and consider a vote on an amendment to the Development impact fee and sewer proportionate fee ordinances.

City staff recommended amending the ordinance to provide a 40 percent impact fee and sewer proportionate fee exemption inside the Main Street District. Class A office projects, such as those that are multi-story or those of more 20,000 square feet, outside the district were not recommended.

Whether inside or outside the Main Street District, redevelopment projects would still receive an 80 percent exemption because of the benefit to the city, said City Engineer Don Easterbrook.

Impact fees are a means of having new development pay its share of the cost of expanding and/or constructing new public facilities to serve new growth. The sewer proportionate fee provides for new development to pay its share of the cost of expanding and/or constructing new utilities to serve new growth in the district.

The council will also consider an intergovernmental agreement with Peachtree City on alcohol beverage handling permits.

Also on the agenda will be the first reading of a zoning ordinance amendment that would allow the sale of automobiles by special exception in the light manufacturing zoning district.
