The Rev. Jerry Yates of Newnan has been nominated as Male Vocalist as well as Acoustic Artist of the Year in the third annual Momentum Awards sponsored by IndieHeaven, the leading organization supporting Independent artists in Christian music. Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will host a “Value Packed Parenting” class exploring seven timely lessons for today’s parents Sunday mornings Feb. 3 through March 16, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Southern gospel artists “The Chosen Ones” and Tere Ayers will appear in concert Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p. m. at Campbellton United Methodist Church, 8650 Campbellton Fairburn Rd., Fairburn.

A special 8-week program entitled “Divorce and Beyond” will be offered at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan beginning Jan. 28 and running through Feb. 26. Participants will meet Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. in the education wing of the parish’s new facility, room 105.

Introduction to Islam class planned at COS
Soumaya Khalifa will lead a class at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church Sunday, Jan. 20, introducing Islam and her life as an American Muslim woman. Khalifa is involved with the interfaith community of Fayette County, which named Christ Our Shepherd’s Sallie Satterthwaite “Bridge Builder of the Year.” The class will be held in the sanctuary from 9:45 to 10: 45 a.m. The church is on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City.

Several Youth and Children from Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church, Sharpsburg, recently visited Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City. The youth sang Christmas carols and passed out bags of Christmas candy.
