The Square Foot Ministry 2007 Blitz Build, which had to be postponed, has now been rescheduled for Feb. 16 - 23, 2008. The group will build a two-bedroom house for a single mother and her handicapped daughter in Griffin.

Through a generous donation, SFM was able to obtain a suitable lot to build the house for this family. Most of the building materials will be obtained through donations from churches, businesses, and individuals.

To cover the cost of materials not donated, SFM accepts cash donations and conducts fund-raising activities. All donations of money and materials are tax-deductible.

Square Foot Ministry, a local ministry sponsored by several churches, works to improve the lives of Fayette County residents and residents in surrounding counties by improving the living conditions for families who could not otherwise afford repairs or renovations to existing houses.

Volunteers perform most of the labor for all home builds and repairs. SFM does not have any paid staff. All volunteer work is supervised by qualified professionals who work in the building industry and who donate their time.

Specialty work, such as electrical, is contracted out to qualified professionals, many of whom offer their services at reduced rates.
