Introduction to Islam class planned at COS
Soumaya Khalifa will lead a class at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church Sunday, Jan. 20, introducing Islam and her life as an American Muslim woman. Khalifa is involved with the interfaith community of Fayette County, which named Christ Our Shepherd’s Sallie Satterthwaite “Bridge Builder of the Year.” The class will be held in the sanctuary from 9:45 to 10: 45 a.m. The church is on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City.

Dogwood Church offers women ‘faith and fitness’
“Body & Soul” is where faith and fitness meet at Dogwood Church. This new ministry for women combines workouts with faith and is available for all fitness levels, beginner to advanced. Classes begin Monday, Jan. 21, at 9:30 a.m. in the E-Zone building and will meet three days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. for 10 weeks. Grace Church to host ‘Walk through Old Testament’
Grace Church will host a Walk Thru the Old Testament seminar, taught by Steve Castlen, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9. The seminar is claimed to be the most popular Bible-based seminar in the world. The seminar teaches how to learn and remember the major people, places, geographical movements and events of the Old Testament. It also shows how to grasp special messages and meanings from Old Testament characters, themes, places and events. The cost is $15 per person, with a maximum of $45 per family. Children 9 years old and up will enjoy participating. Childcare will be provided for children birth through 8 years old, with advance registration. Flat Creek to host dinner, Beth Moore conference
Flat Creek Baptist Church will host its third annual Taste of Heaven Dinner and Beth Moore DVD Conference Feb. 8 and 9. The dinner begins at 6: p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 and will be followed by session one of “Loving Well,” a DVD conference by Beth Moore. Saturday will begin with a Pilates exercise time at 8 a.m. The conference will begin at 9 a.m. and will include three sessions of “Loving Well” and a cookie and coffee break. Tickets are $25. Driver safety program offered
National Heights Baptist Church will sponsor the Driver Safety Program (AARP 55 ALIVE) Tuesday, Feb. 19, and Thursday, Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The course provides updates on rules of the road and techniques for adjusting driving to age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time. Auto insurance companies offer a discount to those who complete this training. The cost is $10 payable on the first day.
