The Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City and the Methodist Men of Peachtree City United Methodist Church will co-sponsor their 4th Annual Chicken-Q lunch Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church Youth Center at the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Windgate Road. The menu consists of one-half of a chicken, cole slaw and barbecue beans. Tickets are $6.75 for the take out meal with the majority of proceeds going to the area Scouting program. Food may be picked up between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Drinks also will be available. Tickets may be purchased from any Kiwanis member, Methodist Men member or may be purchased at the site. Turner heads up revival at Woolsey

Dr. Len Turner, of Len Turner Ministries, with a home base in the Woodstock area, will return to lead revival services at Woolsey Baptist Church in Fayetteville Sunday through Wednesday, Sept. 16-19. Turner preached a one-day revival in June, 2006 at Woolsey Baptist.

Providence will host grand opening for new building

Providence United Methodist Church will have a grand opening for its new children’s building Saturday, Sept. 8, from 2-5 p.m. Activities will include a giant 29-foot slide, concessions, dunking booth, and games.

Drake concert set for Sunday in P’tree City

International recording artist and worship leader Bill Drake will present a free concert experience at Peachtree City Christian Church, Sunday, Sept. 9, from 6-8 p.m. Drake, who has toured more than 50 countries during his career as international worship leader for Operation Mobilization, will present the “Crowns Experience,” featuring many songs from his latest CD entitled “Aroma.”

‘Moms’ circle forming soon at COS Lutheran

A “Moms’ Circle” is forming at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church for local mothers with young children. Sponsored by the evangelism and Christian education ministry teams, the new circle will meet monthly on Wednesdays for fellowship and Bible study. Free nursery care will be provided for children 3 years old and younger.

SFM plans ‘Mega Build’ in Mississippi next month

The local non-profit group Square Foot Ministry (SFM) is planning its first “Mega Build” in Katrina-devastated Pass Christian, Miss., the weekend of Oct. 11 through 14. SFM has already constructed six houses there with another 10 scheduled for the upcoming trip. In June and July, groups across the metro Atlanta area assembled the walls for three houses that are now stored at the SFM warehouse in Griffin.

Veach leads conference at South Metro Ministries

Lauren Attaway Veach, singer, songwriter, teacher and author, will lead a free conference for women at South Metro MInistries in Sharpsburg on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The conference, “Discovery to Recovery,” invites women to “Get Real . . . Revealed . . . and Healed!”

Line Creek singing is this Friday

Line Creek Baptist Church, formerly in Fayette but now in Coweta County, will host its annual singing Friday, Sept. 7, from 7:30 until 11 p.m. at the church on Bob Smith Road near Sharpsburg. Refreshments will be served at 9 p.m.

Jonesboro to host student pastors conf.

Student pastors in the area are invited to the 2007 Student Pastors’ Conference to be held at First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Sept. 9-11. The cost is $50.

Dogwood to offer class addressing ‘faith’
On Tuesday evenings, Dogwood Church will offer a new class called “The Object of Our Faith is to Know Him More,” which addresses what faith is and where one should place his faith. Classes will run from Sept. 11 - Oct. 30, Tuesday evenings from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the Dogwood Church auditorium, 975 Ga. Hwy 74 South, near the intersection of Ga. Hwy 74 and Dogwood Trail. Lauren McDonald, daughter of Page and Graham McDonald, Fayetteville, and seminary student at Seabury Western in Evanston, Ill., preached in her hometown church, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Peachtree City on Aug. 19. She was honored by more than 170 friends, family, and church members at a reception held in the parish hall. Father Paul Elliott presented Lauren with a purse, a gift from the congregation.

Liberty Hill AME’s revival starts tonight
Liberty Hill African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church will have revival services starting tonight, Aug. 29, and continuing through Friday, Aug 31, at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The church is at 201 Minix Rd., just off Fisher Road. The Liberty Hill phone number is 770-254-1542.

Flat Creek’s revival starts Sunday

Flat Creek Baptist Church will have revival services Sunday, Aug. 26, through Wednesday, Aug. 29, featuring Evangelist Steve Foster and several different musical guests.

Gospel singings are this weekend

The August Grantville gospel singing will be held Friday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m.

The Friday night singing will be outside in Colley Park adjacent to the depot and will feature Heavens Express from Flat Rock, Joyful Spirits from Whitesburg, Carter Trio from LaGrange, the Whites from Grantville, Amazing Grace from Franklin, and Marie Bulloch from Warm Springs.
