The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will be holding its annual Christmas Tour of Homes on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7.

Peachtree City will hold its third annual Hometown Holiday Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 6, beginning at Shakerag Knoll at 5 pm and ending at City Hall with the grand Christmas tree lighting, local entertainment, and a visit with Santa Claus.

Please join Toys for Tots and Santa in collecting toys for children who are less fortunate. The Gaddy family will host a Toys for Tots Drive at their annual Christmas lights display at 898 Sandy Creek Rd.

In Jon Ludwig’s new, lively take on a classic tale, we travel to a dreamy, snow-laden countryside to meet Sam, a newly built, innocent snowman who falls in love with a stove. Will this romance spark, or can the young Snowwoman conquer Sam’s heart and save him from himself? Sam the Lovesick Snowman plays November 20, 2008 – January 4, 2009 in the Center for Puppetry Art’s Downstairs Theater.

The Sons of Lafayette Male Choir will give two performances of their Christmas concert at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange: Friday, Dec. 5th, and Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

The holiday season is filled with lights, sounds and spectacles. Several years ago, one local church decided that what people needed most was authenticity— an opportunity to peel away modern noise and experience Bethlehem the way it was during Jesus’ time.

The Twilight Theatre of Peachtree City proudly presents “The Civil War” by Frank Wildhorn, this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14 and 15, at 8 p.m. at Charles Wadsworth Auditorium in Newnan. Additional play dates are Nov. 21 and 22, also at 8 p.m.

Southeastern Ballet Company (SBC), principal dancers and soloists will perform highlights from its upcoming production, “Le Petit Nutcracker Sweet,” along with guest students from Classical Dance Theatre (CDT), at the Tree Lighting festivities at Ashley Park in Newnan on Saturday, Nov. 29. SBC and CDT dancers will take the outdoor stage between 5-6 p.m. that evening.

This movie is special because the first Madagascar (which I own) was the first movie I ever reviewed for The Citizen. This is my XXth review! So I’m happy I liked this.

If you just read the plot of this film, two losers learn a lot about themselves when they are forced to mentor two outcast kids, you’d probably reach for the barf bags and turn off the Hallmark Channel, wondering why you took so much nighttime cold medicine during the day anyway. “Role Models” takes the ultra-formulaic plot and turns it on its ear by making it an R-rated comedy that keeps all of the heart and sentimentality of a Movie of the Week but also makes you laugh like crazy.

This Sunday event has been a Christmas tradition in downtown Newnan for over twenty years.

Main Street Newnan wants to remind everyone about  Pickin’ On The Square for this Saturday at 11 a.m. This event gives local music enthusiasts the opportunity to come down and play around the Historic Courthouse Square.

FFUMC will host the event for three shows - Thursday Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 and 7 p.m.

Rehearsal for Murder, an audience-participation mystery with more than a touch of comedy, debuts at Tyrone’s Boxcar Cafe on Saturday, November 8.  The plot involves two fearful actors (Toby and Anne) and an unbalanced director (Dr. Marcy Masters) who are trapped in a freight elevator during a regional audition.  Marcy has recently avoided prison with a successful temporary insanity defense for killing an actress. 

Donations At Door Will Benefit Newnan Theatre

The actors in Dale Lyles' Lacuna Group are excited by how well their outdoor afternoon performances at Newnan's Greenville Street Park went on Saturday (October 25) and they are looking forward to their next performance this coming Saturday (November 1).  Here is what Lyles has to say:

There will be a lot of holiday programs this year in and near Coweta so now would be a good time to start marking your calendar.  One which looks interesting is the performance of A Sanders Family Christmas at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County on December 13 at 7 PM.  The Centre's events calendar section describes it in these words:

The Line Creek Civitan Club will host the 2008 Great Chili Challenge at Shakerag Knoll in Peachtree City Saturday, November 1 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The challenge will include both professional and novice competitors competing in several different categories.

The Southern Crescent Chorale under the direction of Janice Folsom is proud to present their fifth annual benefit concert on Sat., Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church on Highway 92 South in Fayetteville.  The concert will benefit The Fayette Youth Protection Home in Fayetteville.

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the last two years, this is the third installment of a big musical franchise about diversity and the power of choices, all set to music.

The McIntosh High School Drama Department will present “The Diary of Anne Frank,” Saturday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday and Thursday, Oct.

 The Lacuna Group production of William Shakespeare’s Coriolanus will be performed on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, at 3:00 pm in the new Greenville Street Park in Newnan. The performance is free.

Everybody loves a good laugh and if you can laugh and help out a good cause, such as the Newnan Coweta Habitat for Humanity’s first youth build and The Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts in Newnan, so much the better.

Showcase of Entertainment will present a huge variety show on Saturday, Oct. 25 with legendary comedian Marty Allen and his partner Karon Kate Blackwell headlining.

Everyone is invited to a “Spooktacular Night” as you join the Museum’s Spirit Guides as they take you on a guided walking tour through the Historic City Cemetery. It is there you will meet spirits from beyond the grave and learn about local history through the tales that are told. You will learn about the great cyclone of 1892, speak to a Civil War Captain and meet Doc Holliday and Margaret Mitchell. Many secrets will be revealed such as what ties these famous characters to Fayetteville and this old cemetery. After your exciting tour, you will return to the Museum for treats. Storytelling Tours will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Admission $5 Adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Tours will begin at the museum

If you are interested in visiting over 50 yard sales in one location, head to the 8th Annual Harvest Yard Sale on Saturday, Oct. 25. The yard sale lasts from 8 a.m-3 p.m. Sponsored by the Fayette County Parks and Recreation Department, this community-wide sale will be held at the Activities House parking lot at 980 Redwine Road in Fayetteville. Shoppers at past sales have come from Norcross to Macon, Lithonia to Luthersville and everywhere in between.

Chloe (Drew Barrymore) is a bratty Beverly Hills Chihuahua who gets manicures, goes to dog birthday parties, and has a pool. All of this is thanks to her owner, Vivian (Jamie Lee Curtis). Unfortunately, Chloe has to deal with the annoying Chihuahua, Papi (George Lopez), who loves her so much he would probably lift a fire hydrant for her. He belongs to Sam (Manolo Cardona). Sam is Vivian’s landscaper.

The Southern Crescent Chorale’s 2008-2009 concert series marks their seventh season and promises to deliver a variety of performances for the enrichment of the Southern Crescent community. Holding an important place in our vibrant arts community, the chorale is conducted by renowned choral director Janice Folsom. Concerts are planned at venues throughout the region and will include dynamic performances of a major choral work, along with other classical works and Broadway favorites. A small town torn apart by a tragic drowning and the devastating effect of the Great Depression is the setting for Jim Leonard Jrs. powerful, poignant, and deeply humorous play “The Diviners” opening October 22 at the Starr's Mill High School Willie Duke Auditorium. Under the direction of Mr. David Spearman, the play will be performed by the Starr's Mill High School Drama Department October 22, 23, and 25. All performances are scheduled at 7 p.m.
