Tiger Martial Arts sent 16 students to the National Qualifier in Miami, Fla. on May 27-28. The students, ranging in age from 6-16, earned eight gold medals and all qualified for the 26th Junior Olympic Taekwondo Championships, scheduled to take place July 6-9 at the Georgia Dome.

Lee Hyde, a Fayette County graduate currently pitching for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, knew that several major league teams were interested in drafting him, one of which was his beloved hometown Atlanta Braves. Hyde could do nothing though in the weeks and days leading up to the Major League Baseball draft but be himself and wait and see who would choose him come draft day.

Brent Brewer, a recent Sandy Creek High School graduate, and Lee Hyde, a Fayette County High school graduate currently with Georgia Tech's baseball team in a hunt for the College World Series, have both been drafted by major league teams on the first day of the draft.

The first Thursday Thunder race of the season was held at Atlanta Motor Speedway last week and a number of local residents performed well.

Peachtree City’s 12U Girls Fastpitch team, The Galaxy, has finished the spring season with an undefeated record and a clean sweep of the End of Season tournament. This wonderful group of young ladies came together in the cold of January and ended the season in the warmth of spring as champions of Fayette County. The Braelinn Golf Club Elementary Girls tennis team was named the Spring 2006 Champions in the beginner division for the Southern Crescent Junior Team Tennis League.

The Girls ‘94 Lazers Green were crowned tournament champions in the South Atlanta Peach Classic soccer tournament which took place May 21-22 in Henry County.
