The Fayette Bulldogs 14-year-old baseball team won the 2006 Summer Classic tournament in Gulf Breeze, Fla. this weekend.

The tournament is the main event leading up to the state championships, which start this weekend with games played at Whitewater High School. The Bulldogs are hoping for a little home-field advantage, but they proved themselves on the road quite well in the Summer Classic.

Leading the way was starting pitcher Hayden Jordan, who threw a complete game three-hitter as the Bulldogs cruised to a 12-1 win in the championship game. Jordan struck out 15 batters in the seven frame contest.

Jordan also helped the Bulldogs get off to a good start in the tournament’s first game, hitting a grand slam. The team is coached by Mike Brooks, who has been with the team since they were 5 years old.
