Should the Tea Party become a 3rd Party?

This is a current debate. At first I said no because it would split the conservative vote and keep the liberal democrats in power. Some say the tea partiers should give their support to conservative republican candidates and put the Repubs back on the right track. That made sense until I saw today that Scott Brown (R Mass.) voted with the demos for another $15 billion spending bill.

Scott Brown just won Ted Kennedy’s senate seat and turned the tables on the Dems’ spending plans, Right? Wrong! You can’t trust either party’s candidates. They say one thing to get elected and as soon as in office go back on their promises. This is true even at the local level.

I‘ve had it with these two parties. The Tea Party should become the basis of a 3rd party. It already has a majority of the conservative voters as evidenced by the recent Republican potential candidate convention. Supported mainly by tea partiers, Ron Paul and Sarah Palin combined for 38% of the conservative vote. With 13% more, the do nothing Repub party can go into the trash bin of history. The time is right. America can’t survive by continuing to elect liars to office.

Before you get all wrapped around the axle, did anyone bother to actually read the legislation? Just as one extract/example, do you object to Language Proficiency Pay for FBI Agents? Yes, I know there's more spending than that entailed, but I'm just saying, read the legislation first before you criticize Brown or others for how they vote.

but a 3rd Party although looks really good right now, is not viable.

We have to stay focused on The Moderate Democrats and Conservative Republicans.

That's the problem with any Grassroots campaign we are the outsiders.

We have to bring these guys to the table and teach them some manners as my Grandmother used to say..

They will want to co-op us. Tell us were just like you.. Our principles are like yours.. Then sell us out as soon as they are elected.. (Brown?)

We can be a powerful force in November.. but as a 3rd party we will be a spoiler that the Progressives will exploit..

It's inevitable. Your TEA Party is going to challenge the established R's and where they win, they're going to pull the Party further from the middle and alienate the center and lose. You may as well support the third Party and make as big a splash as you can.

How about if I promise that just this one time, we won't exploit any divisions in your Party that might result?

BTW: Ron Paul is a fraud. He sticks more earmarks in the budget than just about anybody and then votes against it knowing it will pass. He talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk.

That the first grassroots movement in a long long time has to get political. Why not remain party neutral with a goal of removing the useless incumbents? Senator Brown's vote proves that 'independent' thinkers of either party can cross the aisle and do the right thing.

I said on this site before that neither party has earned much more than ridicule over the past forty years, and whose elected members serve only themselves. Let's place some new blood in our Congress!

For the November elections, but we must take a chance on a new 3rd party for conservatives in 2012. A true conservative cannot get nominated in the Republican Party. In the last primary Ron Paul won every Fox Chanel Primary debate with 30-35% of the vote, but look who got nominated, the liberal in Republican clothing John McCain. The Repub Party doesn’t even have a decent platform. If a Republican is elected in 2012 we will get the same old same old. You’ll never change that machine because they’re getting too much lobby money. Even losing as a 3rd Party while building it up will be better than winning with the Repub Party. Read my Lips. You will not change them.

The Shadow, go with your instincts. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it. Take that “Teaparty” now and turn it into a 3rd party. I’ll even help you name it. You can call the new party the “Full-of-Blusters” It sounds almost like “Filibuster” and will be perfect for you.
