Update: 2:03 p.m.

A suspect has been arrested after being subdued by a Fayette County K-9 unit.

A call at 1:47 p.m. indicated that the K-9 unit "made apprehension" off Helmer Road just this side of the Clayton County line. An ambulance was being sent to the scene to treat a dog bite, according to reports.

Original story:
Fayette County sheriff’s deputies are searching an area near Kenwood Park off Ga. Highway 279 and Helmer Road for a barefoot burglar.

The suspect fled from a home on foot but was spotted by a deputy responding to the call just before 1 p.m. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black shirt.

K-9 units are on the ground and the sheriff’s Hawk 1 helicopter is in the air in an attempt to track the suspect. The Fayette County Marshal’s Department is also assisting in the search.

The suspect is believed to have left his shoes behind at the scene of the burglary. It is not immediately known if the suspect got away with anything from the residence.

But there is NOTHING more pleasing than to see a bad guy get "side tackled" by K9 and then hear the sweet words....."Start rescue for dog bites" ! Smiling
