Our taxes at work: Crossings to nowhere

Can someone explain why we have crosswalks with electronic crossing guides at several locations in Fayette County when in fact, there are no sidewalks on either side of the road and where pedestrians do not cross the road?

Seems like a terrible waste of taxpayers’ money.

As much as this gross waste points toward the current policies of our county government, we can't blame the Commissioners for this one. It's state law now that these crossings are required at all state highway intersections. For several months, now, we have had one completed about 1/3 mile away from us, and I have yet to see a pedestrian use it. No such thing as looking at each intersection individually. Must be the "numbers game" again where the goals are set by how many are built. Unfortunately in politics, program goals aren't always set by the publicly presumed objectives of the projects involved.

as you said..no sidewalks..not even much room to pull off on the side of the road...get ready for Marta...look at your commisioners.

You have the bypass to no where, the empty schools, the cross walks...what do you think they are for? you have just paid these much too high taxes...for...new schools, a bypass and cross walks...to entice homebuyers..yes you have been served up on a platter to the developers...and yes, there is an apple in your mouth!

developer welfare at it's best!
