By: Ben Nelms
A meeting on upcoming Congressional legislation that some say will have a greater impact on Americans than healthcare reform will be held Jan. 26 at the Gathering Place in Peachtree City. Retired Coweta-Fayette EMC President and CEO Michael Whiteside will be joined by Rep. Matt Ramsey and Sen. Mitch Seabaugh to discuss what they believe could result if the Cap & Trade legislation is passed. The meeting to discuss the American Clean Energy and Security Act (House Resolution 2454), commonly referred to as the “Cap & Trade Bill,” will be held at 7 p.m. at the Gathering Place located at 203 McIntosh Trail. Sponsored by the Fayette/Coweta 9-12 Project and the Coweta County Tea Party Patriots, meeting organizers said all interested residents from Fayette, Coweta and surrounding counties are welcome to this free admission event. 9-12 Project spokesman Jim Richter said the speakers will discuss the economic impact this legislation will have on every American business, the large number of job losses that will occur and the increases every American family will see in their annual energy costs. A question and answer session will follow the panel presentations. login to post comments |
