Assailant didn't show gun; wore lime green Converse sneakers

Fayetteville police are trying to identify a man who robbed the Office Depot across from Fayette Pavilion last night after 7:30 p.m.

The man threatened to shoot the clerk “if she said anything” as he got away, though he did not display a weapon, police said.
The stolen item was a box containing Windows 7 software, said Maj. Kevin Gooding of the Fayetteville Police Department.

A witness was able to provide a detailed description of the assailant’s clothing: a blue hoodie with a red T-shirt underneath, lime green Converse tennis shoes, blue jeans and a cream-colored baseball cap with red writing on it, Gooding said. The suspect was described as a black man between 6’0”-6’4” tall, with crooked teeth, about 190 pounds and between 25 and 30 years old, he said.

Detectives are working to determine if the assailant was captured on the store’s security system.

When the assailant first entered the store he posed as a customer, picking up an item but asking a clerk to hold it at the counter, police said. About 10 minutes later he returned to the store, wandered some more and has a store associate help him get the Windows software box, police said.

The assailant then went to the register as if he was going to purchase the software, handing over a gift card that had no funds remaining on it, police said.

At that point the robber reached toward his socks or shoes and threatened that he had a gun, Gooding said. The assailant then made the threat to shoot the clerk if she said anything and left the store.
Wooding said the witness gave a “good description” of the robber because it was so rich in detail.

Why doesn't Clayton County just go ahead and annex Fayetteville and get it over with? This town is dead.

is for the laptop he stole earlier. Also, the fraudulent credit card numbers (he has stolen in the past) will be used online to make illegal purchases and gamble. Probably a stolen gift card, too. And on and on and on...

....why he didn't grab TurboTax too. How do you claim stolen property on your tax returns????

You don't need software to use Turbo Tax--it's all online! Besides the Turbo Tax packaging color didn't match his sneakers--and it should be obvious that he's very color conscious!

The shoes were probably stolen as well.

You're right-I forgot...gotta make a fashion statement when you commit crimes.
Nothing like lime green to make yourself inconspicuous.

That is an excellent description and I assume that fingerprints could be pulled from the gift card that he used as a pretext. It is a very odd crime in its execution and it saddens me that this person committed armed robbery when he probably had a decent mind and thought process to avoid this criminal behavior.

This is making it pretty hard to argue my position with this lime green shoe crime!

Find his daddy and smack him upside the head.... for the crime and the shoes!

Oh! And the teeth!!!

they can't schedule you to fly the East Coast leg to Ft Lauderdale unless the wind is out of the West? Reason being is that if you take off to the East, you are totally unable to turn right!

I know windows Vista sucks but Windows 7 really is much better and it is certainly not worth going to jail or shooting someone over.

The description of the robber is very good. Also this robber chose something out of the ordinary to steal.
And if this is a not so veiled reference to race, then it is a pointless posting that proves nothing--A choice to go after an entire race and not just this particular criminal.
