Seventeen year-old Brooks resident Jeremy Ryan Richardson has been arrested on felony charges for aggravated cruelty to animals in the arrow attack on a horse at a Bankstown Road farm discovered Sunday morning.

The charge notes that Richardson knowingly and maliciously caused physical harm to an animal (horse) by seriously disfiguring the animal... by shooting multiple arrow into the horse striking him in the body and the face.

Eight year-old mare Misty suffered four arrow wounds in the attack that was discovered Jan. 3 by a neighbor, Rachel Byrd.

The horse was impaled by an arrow that was found in her neck, another that was lodged in her spine and required four hours to be removed by veterinarian Jason McLendon. The horse was also shot in the face and the left shoulder.

If you would like to make a donation to help Misty's owners with the veterinarian expenses, there is an account set up at First Choice Community Bank. Locations include: Senoia, Sharpsburg, Newnan, & White Oak. Any of the branches are able to accept deposits, simply ask a teller.

I truly hope this punk gets all the punishment the law can deliver. What an idiot! Just had to shot something to show what a big man he is. Give me 5 minutes alone with him and he won't be shooting anything else for a while. And, his parents probably say he a good boy. Yeah, right!

The Brooks Archer is famous now; he made HLN cable news, as they ran a story with video footage all about this incident. Now even more people know what a upstanding citizen he is.

Did they actually call him "The Brooks Archer" on the news? I guess every serial killer needs a nick name.

Did I miss something, What did this person kill. Seeing as you called him a serial killer. He is no more a serial killer than you.

Go have a drink and calm down Normal. The idea of this kid being everything and anything ranging from evil to serial killer has been a fairly prominent theme throughout all the discussions of this kid. I wasn't the first or even the fifth to say it.

The fact that the horse survived - Thank God- is irrelevant to the discussion of his mental state. He is a serial killer who has not yet been successful.

My God, please put him away for a very long time.

I'm going to that little s###st's trial, if his 'upstanding family' doesn't get him out of it!!! AND... I don't care who knows I'm there!

If fact, I think I...like the judge..would like to introduce myself and see what kind of people spawned this nut job.

It is their fault for not getting him help, and sweeping it under the rug.. Does anyone realize he may have had a brain tumor or something that ..could..have caused this...if someone had been strong about this, and got to the bottom before now, this may not have happened.

But, I tell you what, I'm damm glad it wasn't someone's child...and it could have been someone's little child. I'm really POed at the parents...I want to see their ugly upstanding faces in court!

Sorry, I really don't give a dam..they deserve people coming.

The parents are responsible. You have to be eighteen to purchase a bow. A compound bow is basically a firearm and should be treated that way. That bow should have been locked up. However, is it the parents fault they didn't see the "signs"? I don't think so. You can be the best parent in the world and still end up with that one black sheep.

Does this kid have a serious mental handicap or being treated for psychotic anti social behavior the kind that needs to be treated in an institution???

If not, this satanic beast needs to get the maximum sentence. I hope his fellow inmates treat him just like they would a child sex offender.

How do you raise a monster like this without seeing the warning signs?

Yep here it is....... I really want to give this kid a free pass......

right under a semi-truck...!

If I ever give a free pass to any criminal, please feel free to call me on it. If I laugh at someone who calls out david's mom or anyone else.....we will just have to disagree.....

Really it's several things. I can't fathom shooting an arrow into a horse or any domestic animal but to stand there and shoot 4 is beyond comprehension. What could possibly be going through someone's mind during that? To compound that insanity, using broad head hunting arrows, with the damage they cause, is really demented. Wish I could think of some stronger words to define lunacy.

Scary to think about it. You have wonder if the kid has been in other troubles.

Submitted by Eliza on Thu, 01/07/2010 - 4:43pm.

Id be very surprised if there have been no "other troubles". If he was 11 or 12, maybe - but at 17, I'm betting there are people who knew he had issues. Assuming he's guilty, I'm glad he's been arrested. But it's so sad to know there are people who would do what was done to this horse. I hope he gets the help he needs for otherwise there may be worse to come, down the road.

I hate to prejudge, but what do you bet precious Jeremy has a history of being a great citizen in out area? I would bet a history of mailbox bashings, yard trenchings, fire setting, and general thuggery
are known to be caused by him and his posse....

But that's just a guess..I may be wrong

What is yard trenching? Sounds like waaayyyy too much work for a vandal.
