For safety, put 4-way stop signs at Robinson, Windgate intersection

Yet again [Nov. 13] there was a serious accident at the intersection of Windgate and Robinson roads in Peachtree City. I sincerely hope that when you print the article on this, you question why the city has not seen fit to make this intersection a four-way stop.

Since I have lived near this intersection, there have been at least a dozen accidents, several of them very serious. One even required a life flight for the victim.

I have petitioned Peachtree City several times to make this a four-way stop for safety reasons. Each time I am told that the engineers are “studying” the problem.

This intersection is used by pedestrians all the time walking to Huddleston Pond and back. It also serves as the bus stop for Huddleston, Booth, and MacIntosh students in the area.

Hopefully some additional interest from the media will prompt the city to take action before someone gets killed.

...Get your olive drab or desert undies out of a wad and consider that the traffic on Windgate is far less dense than on Robinson. Placing stop signs on Robinson here would be a major inconvenience to those those traversing north-south. However, if you did install a fourth sign, I'm sure the deer would gladly use it, thereby eliminating all the jaywalking they currently do on our east side.

Had the individual heeded the existing stop sign, there would be no accident. By your logic, stop signs should only be placed in groups of four.

How do you propose the City pull this off?

I have used this intersection all the time all the years I have lived in PTC, while it is annoying to have to sit at Windgate to wait for a lull in traffic on Robinson, I was never aware that it was a dangerous intersection. You do have to keep watching in both directions and be cautious about pulling out onto Robinson. I would imagine most of the accidents are caused by people being impatient and pulling out onto Robinson before they should. I don't think the city is the one who installs traffic lights, but I may be mistaken.
