Marist may have knocked several Whitewater teams out of contention for state titles in the past (soccer, baseball, softball) but the Lady Wildcat volleyball team came out strong and outlasted Marist the in the second and third games in their best of five series to capture the AAAA state title on Saturday afternoon.

Whitewater won the first game 25-12 and then won 27-25 and 26-24 to emerge as state champions. The team won 17 matches in a row, a streak that started Sept. 29, on their way to the title.

There will be more details on Monday.

that Sandy Creek repeat as champs, but being that they didn't, I'm glad to see a Fayette county school kept that title here! Way to go ladies!!

Looking at your time stamp, you either forgot to change your clock or you're doing some kind of Back To The Future thingy.
