Mrs. Winner’s Chicken & Biscuits on North Glynn Street is about to get a face-lift. Fayetteville Planning Commission last week approved revised development plans that will make several changes to the store’s exterior.

Much of the renovation will be to restore the structure to its original luster and upgrade existing components of the exterior, said Senior Planner Linwood Robinson.

“The building will be repainted with the original corporate colors of red, light tan and dark tan. The existing metal red roof shingles will be replaced with similar colored ‘Spanish Red’ asphalt shingles,” Robinson said. “The renovations to the outdoor enclosures will once again be replaced with wooden fence post construction with a new coat of dark tan paint.”

The upgrade will also bring changes in landscaping. Robinson said landscaping will consist of the replacement of the existing red mulch beds with fresh mulch and the creation of several new scrub and flower beds. The flower bed at the front of the site will also be enlarged, he said. The new scrubs and flowers will include chrysanthemums, loropetalums, azaleas and gardenias.

Also included in the motion to approve was the addition of several trees in the front of the building if space allows.

Wow, it takes a fire to get a facelift? I hope the food and staff get a facelift too. I'm sorry but for a while the food just went downhill. Ah, but a friend at work recently came to work with syrup on her pants and I asked her if she ate lunch at Waffle House. She said, "No. I had chicken & waffles at Mrs. Winners." OMG, hurry up and rebuild...we need more chicken and waffles. I never got any!!!

The recent fire and destruction of Mrs Winners with the resulting demolition of what was left has, in fact, improved the appearence of the city of Fayetteville. Sorry, but its true.
