Juvenile judge rules PTC’s armed robbery teens ‘delinquent’

Four Peachtree City teens were found delinquent in juvenile proceedings last week stemming from the planned armed robbery of another child on the golf cart path near Blue Smoke park Dec. 22, officials said.

A move is afoot to make the Peachtree City Tourism Association a fully-volunteer board.

Currently, the city manager and a city council member hold positions on the five-member board. But Councilwoman Judi-ann Rutherford said she’d prefer the association not have such direct political ties. Instead, she suggested the city manager and city finance director could serve on the association’s finance committee, which would allow council to keep an eye on the group’s finances.

Stormwater meeting Jan. 20

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Fayette County Development Authority will hold a Peachtree City Stormwater Utility update meeting Friday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. at Cooper Lighting in Peachtree City. Man scuffles with deputies

A south Fayette man fought with nine deputies after breaking into a home near his house on Rising Starr Road Thursday, police said.

Employee robbed after closing

Two men dressed in all black clothing robbed the employee of an emissions shop on Ga. Highway 138 north early Monday evening, police said.

Would-be robber shoots self

A plot by several juveniles to rob a 16-year-old was foiled Christmas Day, and then the gunman accidentally shot himself in the ankle while they tried to speed away from the scene, police said.

A group of more than 60 Cedar Grove residents put the national football championship game on hold Wednesday night to learn more about the challenges that lie ahead for unincorporated South Fulton County. The informational meeting at Cedar Grove Community Center was the most recent venue to hear about the proposal to form two cities where unincorporated county now sits.

Tyrone Planning commissioners Dec. 29 agreed to give their approval to the site plan that will establish more than 10,000 square feet of office space in the Market Hill development on Ga. Highway 74.
