It’s going to be a busy night Thursday as the Fayette County Commission considers more than 750 acres for rezoning to build more than 200 homes.

The focus of the three rezoning petitions is Ga. Highway 92 north and south of Fayetteville.

The first request is from Peachstate Land Development for 398 acres on Hwy. 92 South near Antioch Road and Lake Horton. The company wants the land rezoned from Agricultural-Residential to Estate Subdivision.

Peachstate is looking to build 61 homes and has received approval from the Planning Commission.

The next two requests are for property on Hwy. 92 North near Eastin Road and are being developed by John Wieland Homes.

Wieland wants to build a subdivision featuring 97 homes and is requesting rezoning from R-70 to Conservation Subdivision for 249 acres.

Wieland is also seeking the same rezoning for 118 acres to build 45 homes on an adjacent tract.

In other commission news, the board re-elected Greg Dunn as chairman and Linda Wells as vice-chairman last Wednesday. Both elections were opposed by Commissioner Herb Frady.

Weiland in the neighborhood use to be great...now I just don't know...I am very sad over his "conservation" subdivision that is about to go in Tyrone....in my eyes, it is anything but....
