A Union City woman has been sentenced to more than two years in prison and ordered to pay more than $200,000 in restitution for providing fraudulent W-2 forms to file false tax returns.

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) voted Sept. 26 to approve a $67 billion regional transportation plan to combat the worst traffic bottlenecks and provide new transit and pedestrian options for travel in metro Atlanta.

Union City’s Fall Festival Oct. 12 & 13

The city of Union City will host its 18th annual Fall Festival event on October 12 and 13. This year’s festival will be held at Union Station Mall in Union City and will feature two days of family oriented fun. The festival is designed to promote a sense of community between Union City residents, business owners and city government. The festival begins October 12 at Union Station Mall at 6 p.m. with a Country and Western theme featuring a country music concert featuring Jason Coley Byrd and Haley Hicks. Radio Disney will be on hand with a show for kids of all ages. There will also be a Piñata’ bash for children under the age of 12. A large carnival attraction will be on the property between October 10-14. The rides and attractions will be open daily for your enjoyment.

PTC waving fee for overdue court skippers

To help clear a backlog of almost 600 unpaid bench warrants and license suspensions, the Peachtree City Municipal Court will waive the failure to appear in court fee, $55, for each warrant from Sept. 12 or earlier that is paid.

Coweta County’s biggest and most influential business exposition will take place October 18 at the Summit Family YMCA. BigExpo 2007, hosted by the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, features 100 exhibitors who offer products and services to Coweta businesses and consumers. Doors open for business-to-business networking from 1-5 p.m., and to the general public from 5-8 p.m. Admission is $5.

On September 18, Winpak Films Inc., a subsidiary of Winpak Ltd., held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new barrier shrink bag plant in Senoia, Georgia. Winpak Ltd. is a public company traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Its major shareholder is Wihuri Oy of Helsinki, Finland.

High schools certainly have an assortment of visitors that pass through their doors. But the Sept. 27 visit by Robert and Geraldine Bone and Lord-Lieutenant Roger Bramble was a bit different.
