Union City’s Fall Festival Oct. 12 & 13

The city of Union City will host its 18th annual Fall Festival event on October 12 and 13. This year’s festival will be held at Union Station Mall in Union City and will feature two days of family oriented fun. The festival is designed to promote a sense of community between Union City residents, business owners and city government. The festival begins October 12 at Union Station Mall at 6 p.m. with a Country and Western theme featuring a country music concert featuring Jason Coley Byrd and Haley Hicks. Radio Disney will be on hand with a show for kids of all ages. There will also be a Piñata’ bash for children under the age of 12. A large carnival attraction will be on the property between October 10-14. The rides and attractions will be open daily for your enjoyment.

On Saturday morning, we will have our Kick off parade featuring local celebrities, high school bands and city officials. The parade will begin on Union Street in front of City Hall and will travel down Watson Street to Jonesboro Rd. and finally make its way to Union Station Mall along Hwy. 138. Our kick off ceremony will be held at the sound stage in the east parking lot of Union Station Mall. The opening ceremony will be highlighted by a Battle of the Bands exhibition featuring some of South Fulton’s high school bands, cheerleaders and dance teams. A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held at the mall for pre-registered participants between the age of 13 and up beginning at 1 p.m. Cash prizes, trophies and t-shirts will be awarded to the participants. Persons wishing to register for the 3-on-3 should contact city hall.

The soundstage will be busy all day with local and professional performers. R&B bands will be playing through the early afternoon with local Gospel artists staring in the late afternoon and early evening. Award winner “Dottie Peoples” will perform at a free gospel concert beginning at 7 p.m.. Saturday evening. Ms. Peoples will perform several of her greatest hits for an inspirational evening of gospel entertainment.

The evening will conclude with a fireworks extravaganza that will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.. Local arts and crafts and food vendors will be on hand throughout the festival and will feature something for every budget and taste.
