Next project: visiting at Southland Nursing Home On September 15th the Youth Council serving Fayette County had a "Clear the Path" volunteer clean up day. It was the first part of the council’s new Random Acts of Kindness initiative. Teen volunteers grabbed bags and gloves and started picking up garbage along Lake Peachtree and on the cart paths along the lake and Drake Field. 22 Trash bags were filled up by the end of the project. The next RAK project is scheduled for Southland Nursing Home on Tuesday Oct. 9th from 6:30 p.m.-8 pm. Teens 8th grade through 12th grade are welcome to help. Teens will lead bingo, arts and crafts and simply spend time visiting with the seniors at Southland. "All of our teen events and projects are open to all Fayette County teens, and you don't have to be a member to participate", said Art Sivertsen Youth Coordinator with the Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department. Any teens interested in volunteering for Southland should contact Sivertsen at 770 486-3936. The Youth Council also has one of the biggest teen concerts in Fayette County history planned.
