Thirty-six year-old Philip Shawn Curl sustained non-life threatening injuries at a 1024 Ridgefield Drive residence Thursday morning after being shot by a man who fled the home on foot, police said. Peachtree City Police investigating the shooting are speaking with multiple individuals in relation to the shooting and the suspect seen running in an easterly direction. No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.

It appeared Tuesday night that the stars had not aligned for Starship Adult Novelties and Gifts in its preparation to open the company’s newest location at Thomas Crossroads. District 4 Commissioner Rodney Brooks told more than 300 anxious residents in attendance that the business license application was being denied because Starship had been determined to be a sexually-oriented business that is not permitted in the commercial area. The praise heaped on commissioners that night were contrasted Wednesday by the comments of Starship CEO Kelly Rogers, insisting that he would stock the store and not back off from his intention to operate his business.

Small development okayed at Fischer Road and Hwy. 34

Coweta County Commission Jan. 20 gave unanimous approval to a rezoning request for a commercial development on 9.067 acres at Ga. Highway 34 and Fischer Road. Only 1.25 acres on the site are suitable for development. The property is located just west of the northwest corner of Fischer Road and Ga. Highway 34 and is adjacent to the 800,000 square-foot Fischer Crossing commercial development already approved by the commission in June.

No injuries in early morning fire that consumes house

An early morning fire at an unoccupied residence on Ga. Highway 92 North just north of Gingercake Road resulted in extensive damage. Firefighters fighting the blaze in sub-freezing temperatures saw the runoff water from their hoses freeze on the ground and roadway.

A Peachtree City woman suffered two broken wrists and a broken toe at the hands of her husband, who also raped her at the couple’s home in the Kedron Hills neighborhood Sunday, according to court documents in the case.

This afternoon Michael William Ellicott, 47, was denied bond on several criminal charges filed in the case.

Man jailed over threats to stepfather

A Peachtree City man was arrested Monday after he pulled out a knife and threatened his stepfather, police said.

Initially Cedric L. Blandburg was asked to leave his stepfather’s and mother’s house due to a family incident and he refused, police said. At one point he also threatened the stepfather with a pipe and the knife, police said.
