His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. hutch866: Fayette County Music EducationOne of the band directors at our high school gave us some numbers the other night about the All State band program this year: Fayette County placed the second most kids in the All State Band program this year, beaten by only Cobb County although Cobb had 15 high schools and Fayette has only 5. hutch866: General informationThe HVAC company Airco went out of business the other day, so if you're trying to get warranty work done or call them a hutch866: log in problemsCal, something is going on here thats causing problems for lots of your regular posters, Hack can't post, sniffles is up to #4 now and even the nitpicker is on his second name. hutch866: Reply to Muddle from HackOnce again the Navy pulls the Air Forces chestnuts out of the fire... For Muddle: Muddle, thanks for valuing my opinion enough to ask me this question concerning opposition to torture. Speaking only for myself, my opposition to torture of anyone (US citizens in the penal system, gang members, uniformed and non uniformed combatants, etc) is based on two principles: The inherent since of right and wrong, and the golden rule of "do unto others." First, the fundamental sense of right versus wrong: When we inflict physical pain on someone to attempt to coerce information, to gain retaliation, or to send a "signal" in attempts to intimidate a certain group (as radical Sunni and Shiites have been treating one another in Iraq), we lose our humanity; both the torturer and torturee. We devalue life. It is a very slippery slope that, in other cultures, has devolved into harsher and harsher forms of torture (reference Jeff C's links), torturing of family members or friends if a subject is personally able to withstand extreme amounts of pain, and more less imaginable atrocities. Much of the pride behind my cheesy grin when I hear the National Anthem, Reveille in the morning, or Taps at night, has to do with the fact that I feel the U.S. is a special nation with a love for freedom and life itself that is rare in the world. I believe we have no true idea of how insidiously we can lose these high moral standards. And I fear our national policies in this area may have sacrificed much more of this moral high ground than we are aware of. hutch866: just a jokeJohn the farmer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens), called "pullets", and ten roosters, whose job it was to fertilize the eggs. hutch866: Daniel Rosshutch866: Happy Possum Dayhutch866: Merry ChristmasMerry Christmas to all my friends here on the Citizen and to Bonkers and $mithpicker$ too, If you can't get what you want for Christmas I hope you get what you need. hutch866: TUGhutch866: dryer maintenenceIt seems that our dryer had developed this extremely annoying squeak or squeal and after cussing it for days I decided I better see what was going on. hutch866: Musical FayetteMrs. hutch and myself attended our first MAYWE concert last night {Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble} hutch866: Unofficial pollthe theory has been proposed that sniffles is our old "friend" basmati, what's the consensus of the boards? hutch866: Hey Tughutch866: Football PlayoffsI want to take this time to thank the Tiger football team for an exceptional year of football. You boys have made this one of the most exciting falls of my life. I knew my daughter was going to enjoy marching band and ya'll have enhanced the experience by a factor of ten. My hats off to you boys, and Tommy Webb, great job. You and your coaches have had these kids prepared every week and your dilligence shows at every game. hutch866: InvitedI want to invite everyone to attend the LaFayette Marching Classic Saturday at Fayette County High School. Starts at hutch866: High School FootballI've been going to FCHS football games for a couple or three years now and I've enjoyed it, for the money you won't find better entertainment but this year my daughter is a freshmen and the games have a new meaning, beside the fact that the Tigers are 4-0, now that I have an emotional involvment in the game they are so much more enjoyable and watching the Band at halftime is an even more enjoyable event, these kids spend so much time practicing their routines and programs and at FCHS it shows, the Band hasn't lost a step with the retirement of Kenny Beard, Miss Myra Rhoden hit the ground running and the band is as good as ever, and the football team is better then ever { thank you Tommy, and the kids} This has got to be the most exicting fall for my family ever and I thank all of those responsible, adult and kid alike, and when you hear that voice in the stands, yeliing for the ball players and band alike, know that the hutch is proud of you, and that the price of the ticket does not come close to the fun I get in return. hutch866: High School FootballI'm curious as to why with the season openers for the schools only a week away, why I've seen no articles on the teams, we have 5 high schools and I've seen zilch on the teams. hutch866: AmphitheaterIf anyone is going to the amphitheater tonight to see Herman's Hermits, think of poor old hutch and mrs. hutch out in the sun Thursday evening helping set up the multitude of chairs it takes to put on a show there, sweating gallons of water and making untold number of trips up and down the stairs to set up the chairs all because the hutchette is in the band. hutch866: music websitehere's a nice website that I found, pick a year and hear the music in your background....www.tropicalglen.com hutch866: It's springJust to give ya'll some advice from a a/c repairman, now is the time to change that filter and now is the time to have the a/c checked if it's not acting right. hutch866: All State BandI'm down here in Savannah for the All state band concerts, and let me tell you these kids rock. You can say all you want about the state of the schools in Georgia but these kids are the cream of the crop, and I include the orchestra's in this too, I've never really listened to an orchestra before but I bet the pros are only marginally better then these kids, and these kids are only middle school students. hutch866: Band concertTonight at 7pm, Harp Crossing Baptist Church will be the Christmas Concert by Fayette Middle School Band. Come and see your tax dollars at work, this will be well worth the time as this is an amazing band for kids so young. |
